    Surface Planer Good Deal?

Agree with the other posters, they aren't complicated machines, easily dissasembled and refurbished. I'd go for it particularly if you can get the price down to £150 ish. I'd reccomend this (Shield Rust Remover) for getting the rust off. Best to take the beds off and get a tub they will fit in...

    Sold Kity 636 Planer Legs

Hi - yes both are steel, from memory one of them is knurled and one is ribbed but I can check on mine if it helps. I dissasembled and rebuilt mine when I got it as it was in an awful state, works fine now though. Yes please do send a DM and we can sort the legs.

    Sold Kity 636 Planer Legs

Hi - yes they are. If you have the legs and the planer you’ll just need to sort a motor and something to mount it to. If you want them you’re welcome to them - would be delighted for them to go to someone who might use them.

    Trouble with Drill Doctor

I bought some cobalt bits recently for drilling out some bolts on my car (don't ask...). They weren't cheap and I thought that I should really try and sharpen the drill bits that I have. Of course I could learn to do it on the grinder - however this is an experience based skill and I don't...

    Sold Kity 636 Planer Legs

I have a Kity 636 but mine lives on it's own dedicated workbench so I don't use the legs etc it came with. Whilst I have no use for them and am space constrained so cannot just store them forevere. I am reluctant to discard the legs as they aren't made any more and I expect someone somewhere...

    Help with extraction please

That looks like a great deal. If I were the OP I would snap that up! You could probably message him and convince him to post it if needed.

    Help with extraction please

Fortunately the chip extractors are generally cheaper, there are a ton of used ones. The single-bag designs like that axi one have a smaller footprint and you can mount them either vertically or horizontally, but they use the collection bag as the filter so cleaning the bag out is slightly more...

    Help with extraction please

Large diameter changes like that are rarely effective. Others will be better placed to advise, but I expect that sadly you need a High Volume Low Pressure chip extractor for the planer as it produces woodchips rather than dust. Given your planer is small you might get away with your LVHP...

    Router recommendations

I have a 8x6 shed workshop so I know the feeling of having space constraints. I do have two routers, a 1/2" Triton TRA002 and a 1/4" Dewalt D26204. Both of them are absolutely brilliant but I use the Dewalt 1/4" one 9 times out of 10 when I need a router. I would reccomend both of them if you...

    Beginner tools / timber advise

I would reccomend keeping an eye on facebook marketplace. People often clear out garages and the newer generations just don't have much interest on these tools and machines so often they go cheaply. Furthermore, older-made tools tend to be made with longevity more in mind. You do have to be...

    Help needed, Kity 637

I think it is this: https://solenttools.co.uk/product/solent-tools-drive-belt-compatible-with-kity-637-2/ But you can buy the pack for both the feed roller belt and the drive belt for only £10 mroe and if one was in that state then perhaps it might be worth just replacing both...

    Kity 1619 and 3636

Interesting. I actually don't have that bar and the anti-kickback teeth on my machine, as the 3D printed dust hoods I use won't fit to the machine with it in place. To my recollection when I removed it, it is just a straight steel rod with the teeth sat loosely on, each separated by a washer...

    Kity 1619 and 3636

Are you saying that the workpiece hits the non-return 'teeth' as you are feeding it in, or are you talking about the ribbed roller?

    Shared 3m x 2m shed - any ideas??

I just unbolt my router (TRA001). It is bulky but it only takes 5 minutes to bolt on the router to the top, means I can store them separately.

    Shared 3m x 2m shed - any ideas??

I would make a router table top, then either put that on saw-horses, or you could sit it on some 'pull out' arms coming out of the bench as you mentioned. I have a similar system for my 1/2" router, I don't have the room for it to be set up in a table all of the time. It works well and the...

RUST Prevention on TOOLS- I am giving up on Camellia Oil...

Honestly it works really well, I live about a mile from the coast so really humid and really salty air! Plus I’m in a small shed workshop.with no insulation so get the swings of humidity and temperature. I run it year round, depending on the weather have to empty it maybe once every 2-4 days...
