A little truth for a change.

Edit: Just went back and re-read Adam's post. I was, very clumsily, trying to back exactly what he said, and failed monumentally.

A little truth for a change.

I was 'raised' at university by some eminent ecologists and physiologists. This latest sentence resonates strongly with their modus operandi. I witnessed a "Vivo" for a PhD, and had to justify my own work throughout my time with reference to statistics with confidence limits etc throughout...

    Rats in a trap...

Biologists will tell you, the urban myth "six feet from the nearest rat" is just that, a myth, created by misquotes from a chap called Battersby in the early 90's. It MIGHT be true in isolated rural areas, but certainly not in urban ones, despite column-selling articles by journos - trying to...

    Teak Oil

John, I used a lot of this stuff. Teak and oil. Yes, it soaks into the grain depressingly fast and in great volume. "Chill Mon", that's what it's supposed to do! Teak is a naturally oily wood and is sometimes used outside 'au naturelle' no oil, no preservative. That ends up what some treasure...

    Safety

I taught over 5000 pupils -in a laboratory setting - during my career; this is so, so, true.

    What is this electronic component?

Big Clive. He wires the Tattoo for Edinburgh Castle. His youtube channel is one of the very few that is factual, objective and filmed from a 'face for radio' basis. The Big Monn keeps his midge filter exposure to a minimum, and concentrates on the hardware under scrutiny. Hilarious analyses...

    Need to escape/reset

Stig, as Ian said above: "I feel really touched, emotional, and proud for you that you have reached out, we haven’t met you but we’re all sort of mates on here. Chin up Buddy, you’re on the road and you’ve just taken a huge first step. Well done and the best of luck. Ian" That is the first...

Bitumastic or asphalt flooring and/or cheaper options

Jacob, I had a concrete slab floor, cracked and subsided in one corner (hence the cracks). I could not be sure about Damp Course, so...I dry/slightly damp mixed some sand and cement, levelled things up, let it dry. Laid 10mm sand, followed by a 1200 guage D.P.M., then 50mm Celulite, sorry...

    Mold

Ditto. The Boss and I had asthma all our lives. The loft-based positive pumping wotsit we put in - to our new house - solved catastrophic condensation (and suqsequent mould) inside 24 hours. Even just regular airing can make a big difference. Modern houses, aiming for hermetic closures of doors...

    Mold

It's not as simple as that. Concentration is everything. Read your own quotation: "...intense or repeated..." 'intense' means 'high concentration'. To reduce the incidence of this nasty disease to a very specific set of circumstances you've defined is not the way the world works. Stig has still...
