    Burghley horse trials

Flying haggis has the best one so far, but TFrench is only a neck length behind! Trainee, keep 'em coming! We wouldn't want to saddle Joe Woodworker with too few bad puns! Wouldn't want anyone bridling at our lack of immagination? Not to mention that the mane point of any commentry....yoicks...

Elektra Beckum HC260 Planer Thicknesser Fence

Footer with it, until you hit 90, then scribe a line across the side face of the locking bracket and trunnion? If you then slowly, carefully, undo the Brizzel lever, you should be able to mark a second line. In use, move to second line, tighten lever, first line acts as a check you made 90? Just...

I have learnt something new today

Eric, if you are an A level Biology pupil ( I refuse to say "student", that's university), then in muscle structure you will indeed see "fenestrated" as an active term. It refers to the window-like gaps in the reticulum there and comes from the latin 'fenester' yada,yada... Just...

Edited - Which track saw (rather than which circular saw)?

The Sheppach is NOT "gutless"... I bought one at an 'end of stock' clearance for an emergency sheet ply job. Did that cleanly and easily. Then did two more massive sessions on rough timber, before switching to contiboard trimming yesterday. Mehh...blade is a bit coarse for the conti, I'm having...

out of the mouths of babes ...

£20 per week? Can be done. D-in-L went back for a second degree, largely self-financed; she lives meat-free etc etc in London during term time, then switches back to omnivore at home. She's got my deep respect. Sam

Help with old Elektra Beckum HC 260 planer thicknesser

Ooops...my bad.I do not have that type of 260C. Mine is the same as Peter Sefto demonstrates in the video. I also do not have 'springy thingies' on mine AND I swopped out the older pattern blade holders for the alle key adjusted ones. Sorry, this well is dry. Sam

    Never lend tools!!

Rafe? He is DELIBERATELY giving you his tools that he has knocked out of kilter....knowing he will get them back repaired and properly set up? He's taking you for, not a mug exactly, but a cheap repair service! :D If he is THAT inconsiderate/cack-handed with tools, remind me never, ever, to...

    Axminster-TS-200-2

£125 second hand, over a decade ago. Sold it for same 4 years later. That was the one with the stand and the the extension table, plus sliding table. Fine wee saw if you stuck to small sections, but bogged down quickly in 2" proper hardwood. Also, that diety-damned fence! It slipped, it marked...

    Well, that didn't work

Ah, so I was close? Stearate, not sawdust, and gel alone? Complicated lark this woodworking. :-" Sam, running for the hills....

AGS10 3 phase to single phase conversion

Thanks for the thought Andy. I bought Gremmy's! My saw is still in storage, 10 months after our house move - and subsequent medical events - but I am still optimistic; got another three building jobs out of the way today. Big projects seem to go up quickly, but the finishing touches ( a.k.a...

    Extension Roof Fascia

Ah. Gotcha. Sorry for being dozy. In my (limited) experince, longer, without a break, is better to the eye. Too many breaks/joins are also an invitation for weather penetration. All that said, you are looking at one 'course' and neither above point matters much therefore. 2.5m, on your...
