I was asked to look at a friends fuse board as the electric went on and off a few times then the next day it quit alltogether..... this is what was found...... scary stuff...I thought the idea was for this electronic control to stopfire hazards..........!!!!!!!!!!!.

I tried to buy 2 new blades for a large DeWalt planer......was quoted £60 odd for the originals..... stuff that so got some from china direct about £15 for the pair.....because I was doing rough work with suspect dirty timber.... honestly cant tell the difference.... prob coz they all made...

for those interested the magnetic strips from Lidil are worth the few quid they cost...I use em everywhereto hold the tools, reg used drill bits n chuck keys..... floating tools are a nightmare around machines...still have to cut the wires that used to hold the chuck key and the chuck removal...

a jacobs chuck in the tail stock is OK but I prefer a collet chuck for the headstock.... on my lathes it can be used either end.... collet chucks dont have to be mad expensive.....the cheaper ones are good enough unless ur making clocks.... my collet chuck ER40 does double duty on the lathe and...

Val another thing to consider is it's resale value when u upgrade or quit...

I may have got this wrong but he said he wants to change the motor anyway.... all I ment was that if ur gonna change the motor might as well get something bigger..... Bearings, looks like u have a fairly heavy casting on the front of the shaft behind where the chuck sits....BUT that doesn't...

if I lived back in Colchester I'd make u one..... pretty sure u could make one from a decent hardwood... the hardened steel guides would be a bonus but they are easy to make so when the drill wears the wood a bit just make a new one.......

Andy just a small thing make urself a shield for the motor... so many overheat n burn out when full of dust.... looks like ur machine is cast iron....which is good..... check to see if it has big"ish bearing on rhe main shaft....then fit a 1-1.5HP motor.... plenty of used ones around...

once decided on pipe runs, I think plastic drain pipe would be cheapest, smooth insides and easy for the end and corner fittings... the more educated will know... but I was always worried about static elec build up in what ever material u use for the trunking.... obv metal trunking would be self...
