    Choice of workshop vac?

Thanks for the recommendations about Numatic and Nilfisk. This seems like a good price for a Numatic TEM390A M Class vac at £400. It is more expensive than the Fein one, but comes certified as M Class. It is also interesting that the bags are available at about only £1 each rather than £4 each...

    Choice of workshop vac?

Thanks for the link Eric. That seems much better value as even the 35L variant with tools is £290 + £20 for the filter gets a system at £310 rather than over £500. The other thing I noticed on the Miles website is the dust bags for the Fein which are about £5 each which seems fairly steep...

    Choice of workshop vac?

Thanks for all the discussion and advice. Having done a bit more reading up, based on HSE guidelines I think I need an M class filter as I work with both hardwoods and softwoods. The Numatic system mentioned earlier looks good, but to get it to M class seems to be about £900. I am not sure the...

    Choice of workshop vac?

The Axminster/ Numatic extractor looks like a robust bit of kit, but it you put the Hepa filter on to make give it M class filtration it comes to over £900, which seems like a lot. I guess you get what you pay for ultimately. Thanks.

    Choice of workshop vac?

Does anyone have any experience of the: 1) Makita VC3012M/2 240V M Class Dust Extractor 30L - FFX are selling at £385 2) Bosch GAS 35 M AFC+ Wet & Dry Extractor - Axminster are selling at £519.96 I was interested in an M Class Vac as it guarantees >0.1mg/m³ which is the HSE standard for...

    Choice of workshop vac?

Thanks for the recommendation. Which model of Numatic vacuum do you recommend? There seem to be lots of different sorts. Thanks

    Choice of workshop vac?

Hi, I currently have an Axminster chip extractor which is great for the large machines and a Wickes vacuum for hand held power tools. The Wickes machine seems to throw as much fine dust in the air as it sucks up and is really noisy. What would anybody recommend to replace it with that has good...

Router compatibility with Makita guide rails

I have a Makita SP6000 with some rails which is great for cutting sheet material. I see that it is possible to get a Makita Guide Rail adaptor for a router. They look like quite a good idea and not too expensive. I was just trying to work out I could make them work with my router. Does anyone...

    Router Table dilemma

Thanks Eric. I sent Woodworkers workshop an email today asking about the differences amongst other things.

    Router Table dilemma

Thanks Sunnybob. I like Makita kit and it seems reliable, I am not sure that it will fit the router lift I have which is designed for a 4 1/4” round body. I guess it would also require some reworking to remote out the speed control.

    Router Table dilemma

Earlier this year I built a router table as an extension to my table saw and have been very pleased with it. I picked up a virtually new Rutlands motor and lift on EBay. I also have a trend spiral bit which was doing a fantastic job of cutting some very clean tenons. Then it made some funny...

Scheppach Spare Motor £374 and two months to deliver!

With a view to getting a 16amp power supply I reassembled the machine yesterday. I found that if I did not put too much tension on the drive belt it will run off 13 Amps :D . I think I still ought to get a 16amp supply put in, but it is great to have it up and running again rather than in...

Scheppach Spare Motor £374 and two months to deliver!

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I need to ask for a 16amp supply from Santa! The only thing putting me off at the moment is that I don’t have any spare spaces in my fuse box for another MCB. Time for a bit of head scratching.

Scheppach Spare Motor £374 and two months to deliver!

Its been the 13amp fuse in the plug that has been blowing not the trip on the fuse box. The circuit I. The garage is part of the house mains, but because the fuse in the plug was blowing I don't think that is the problem. Still heard nothing back from all the companies I emailed about getting...

Scheppach Spare Motor £374 and two months to deliver!

I hadn’t thought of that. But having thought about it now I don’t think anything else has changed. I wasn’t running anything else significant in the garage.

Scheppach Spare Motor £374 and two months to deliver!

Hi Trevanion, Unfortunately I don’t have a 16amp outlet in my garage to try that with. I did debate about whether it was worth putting one in. I decided against it as I assumed something has changed with the machine to cause it to blow a fuse in the first place and feared this would just mask...

Scheppach Spare Motor £374 and two months to deliver!

I had been running the planer thicknesses since I bought it second hand for the last two years on a 13amp plug. I had had no problems with it even when it got cold. It then blew a fuse on start up recently. I found the motor would run fine when the drive belt was removed, but it blew. Fuse when...

Scheppach Spare Motor £374 and two months to deliver!

Thanks for the replies. I’ll see if I can post some photos of the motor tonight. It is mounted on its base. Having googled for replacement motors it looks lower profile than many. The junction box is on the side of the motor rather than the top. The pulley is fitted to the shaft with a key way...

Scheppach Spare Motor £374 and two months to deliver!

The motor in my Scheppach planer thicknesses has given up. Having been pointed by Scheppach at their UK importer NMA Agencies Ltd, I have just been quoted £374 for a replacement motor to arrive in February! I only paid £500 for the whole thing when I bought it second hand. Can anyone recommend...

Scheppach HMS 2600 Ci Planer Thicknesser Motor

Hi, I have been running it off a 13amp plug for the last couple of years and it has been fine, which is why I thought that motor was failing. Thanks Mark
