    GerryT, Correct I used to make a few as ramin is very strong it hold up well, I made a lot of different mouldings with it as it was good to cut and shape. Been using some lately on the cnc machine for some plaques.

    It takes stain well but you can over do it and get blotches, a clear-cote looks really good and highlights the grain a little. Use it well because you will not buy it again.

    Alexf, Sorry I am no help the motor I have has no plate on it only 1475 rpm so I don't know what it is capable of and the flange fitting is different.

    I would use a two part resin glue to secure the dial then once you have fitted it It might help to give it a spray coat of clear lacquer such as you would use on a car, then it should not matter if placed in the sun.

    A paper dial seems the wrong choice for external, you would need a painted or enamel dial due to the sun's bleaching effect and you would need it behind glass.

    Jacobs 2A taper.

    Jacob chucks fit on a Morse taper arbour, the short taper that fits in the chuck is a Jarno taper 1,2,3,4,5,6. depending on what size of chuck to fit on.
