    Bandsaw drift

The problem with having the fence skewed to compensate for drift is that that is fine for ripping operations but useless for any kind of crosscuts, such as tenon shoulders. The fence should be in line with the mitre slots AND be cutting straight at the same time. That's what the tracking knob...

    Elektra Beckum 260 planer blades

Ah, I see, yes. 74 is wrong, got it. You missed out the hyperlink! :) Steve’s YouTube video

    Elektra Beckum 260 planer blades

I don't get you. Where is the illustration wrong? Can you highlight it please?

    Elektra Beckum 260 planer blades

I think your analysis is probably right. Can you not adjust the outfeed table at all? What machine are we talking about?

    Strong colour

Excellent, I like. I'm currently making myself a dining table where I'm going to pair dark green with oak. I'm going to have to find the exact shade of green, though, otherwise it will upset my biorhythms.

    different Island

Sounds ghastly. :) Will probably look fantastic. Looking forward to the end result!

    Bandsaw

Two things affect the quality of a bandsaw cut: 1 The sharpness of the appropriate blade for the job, and 2 The machine setup. It's not difficult, but there are several considerations and they each have to be addressed in the right order. That's why there are a multiplicity of good resources...

This how I made the tapered legs:

    car boot find

I had a Wolfcraft version of that and I rather naively thought it would turn me into Rob Cosman (although I'd never heard of him in those days). The fundamental problem is one of spindle speed. Router 26K rpm. Drill 2K rpm. It matters. S

Kitchen Knife Set - Recommendations Please?

Pete, that's just showing off. :) I have two proper Jap ones. I can't remember the name. They wer about £150 each, 15 or 20 years ago. Presents. The cleaver hardly ever goes in the drawer, let alone the dishwasher (Aaaarrrggghhh!), it is my go-to knife, I use it every day. I also have this...

    MDF & pocket hole joints

I was just about to post this. Looks like we are all too late. But, just for the record, and for anyone who stumbles across this in the future... If done properly pocket screws are an excellent technique. Specify MRMDF, rather than the ordinary stuff. Design it so that all the screws are on...

    Garden trellis pergola thingy.

LOL , and thank you. But it is nothing special. Just some chunky pegged mortice and tenon joinery for the bottom and a whole load of halving joints up top. Incidentally, all my halving joints fitted perfectly in the workshop. Then I took them outside to creosote them, and they stayed outside for...

    Garden trellis pergola thingy.

I've been to the garden centre and bought Clematis Macropetala Albena Plena and Jasmine Beesianum. So red up one side, white up the other. Should look lovely in a couple of years.

    Grooving

If you do go down the creosote route, try to get the proper, old-fashioned, coal-tar stuff. You won't find it in B&Q but it still available online. It's what I've used for this.

    Garden trellis pergola thingy.

Clematis, probably. I know nothing about gardening, I used to have Staff for that sort of thing :) But I'm quite enjoying learning. S

    Garden trellis pergola thingy.

:) This is its first year in that spot, so I've not been harvesting it. Prior to that it was on the other side of the garden and prior to that it was in Ray's garden (you remember Ray...). But I did have to move some out of the way to dig the post holes, so I did actually pull a bit at the...

    Garden trellis pergola thingy.

It's not exactly fine woodworking, but I have knocked this up over the last couple of weeks. I had to buy the four posts, but everything else is cut from the old rafters from the shack that used to stand where my workshop now is. My mate Charlie helped me to get it in place.

    Norm's Adirondack Chair

It's redwood actually. But yes, I do work on much lower budgets than I used to.

    Norm's Adirondack Chair

Well each to his own, of course. But apart from the fact that they fold up (which would be a bonus, yes), I prefer mine.
