Too much information! :) But thank you. I'm coming round to thinking that I might have to joint the darned things myself. I've done it before (which is why I'm not keen on doing it again...)

Ouch! I was privileged to have seen the GSOA before the Great Fire. An amazing place. I'm not sure how much survived, but I think the place at Northampton is still going. Well worth a (pre-booked) trip. You don't have to, it's not your wardrobe :) I rather like the ones from the site to which...

    Wardrobe

I'm not so keen on those round knobs, I'm more inclined to have longer narrow pulls, because of the height of the door, but there are others on that site that I like. These come in two different lengths, so I could use the longer ones for the wardrobe and then use shorter ones when I get round...

    Wardrobe

Well I could. I'm planning to do so for the balance. But 2.2m is a challenge. I've only ever done anything that long once before and it was 15-odd years ago. So I'm not exactly an old hand at this. Shooting 2.2m veneers is not easy by hand. Last time I made a special shooting board, but even so...

Thanks marcros, they are next on my list. I've just spoken to a very helpful lady at Thornell, but they are really a panel manufacturer rather than a veneer supplier.

This is proving to be a bit more difficult than I had imagined. DF Richards aren't interested, Capital Crispin don't manufacture layons. I'm waiting to hear from Nantwich.

I've done a bit more, most of it cerebral - I've made a couple of decisions. First of all I've decided that the doors are going to be MRMDF substrate, lipped and veneered. I shall prepare the balance myself with my existing veneer supply and buy the layons for the face. The lipping I made for...

    Veneering over veneer

Thanks Rob. I think I used them once, many, many moons ago. Also Aaron somebody-or-other. I wasn't so pleased with that order. Yes it was technically accurate, but not what I was expecting. I did have a veneering job done by a firm in Nottingham, once. They did a great job. But I can't recall...

I've only gone and perfected sharpening! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I know!

So does Lurker. Some of them are even his own :)

    Bandsaw setup issue

Blade "guides" are really a bit of a misnomer. They don't really guide the blades at all, though they do stabilise things a bit, bit, I suppose. In a perfect world, you would be able to cut a straight line, nice and true, with no guides at all, just by setting the tracking properly. But the...

    Veneering over veneer

Well I am singularly unimpressed. No reply from DF Richards, so today I sent a polite nudge. Email reply that he had forwarded my email of 15th "last Tuesday", which, by my reckoning is a delay of a week. Reply from "marketing" that sorry they cannot fulfill an order of this quantity. Which I...

Auxillary vice jaws - spring or not to spring?

It was exactly because of that that I made mine that way. The first mortising jig that I published was was a Rolls-Royce version of his. I have an even betterer one now that does not rely on that kind of jaw, which is why I am considering going back to a more trad installation.

    6 panel external door construction

If you want to make life easy for yourself, forget about grooves and rebates entirely, build a plain M&T frame, then glue and pin on the separate mouldings afterwards. When it's painted it is impossible to tell the difference. BTW, I don't think that £1600 is OTT if it is well-made. I bet you...

Auxillary vice jaws - spring or not to spring?

Isn't that interesting? My vice jaws are like yours, Keith, and I'm contemplating building a new bench and having the rear jaw flush! Can you explain why you prefer the standout jaw, please? S

    Wardrobe

No, I'm not. I want it to look like a free-standing piece of furniture, not a built-in. I've nothing against built-ins, it's just not what I want.

My Domino XL has just arrived. You would think, would you not, given that it is a grand's worth of kit, that they would include a handful of Dominoes to get you started? The first thing anyone wants to do with a new toy is to try it out. There is even a couple of trays for them, but they are...

    Wardrobe

I ripped off a long length from a sheet of MDF and lipped it, with the intention of then cutting it into shelves. I didn't do a very good job of the lipping, it was not as tight as I would have liked, and some of that was on the show face. (The higher shelves will really have two show faces, as...

Would you like to do a little WIP for that, please? I, for one, would be interested.
