    Not been feeling yourself lately?

I've had two transplants. I might not even be 100% male anymore! :)

    Bog oak router plane

Blimey, Mike, how many bog oak trees did you buy?! :) Yes, I'm talking about the difficulty of maintaining a crisp edge.

    Bog oak router plane

Really? That astonishes me, Mike. Are we working wood from the same tree? :) One of the difficulties I've had with my Mackintosh motifs is the brittle nature of the wood. Perhaps it's because yours is all nice round soft edges and mine is supposed to be crisp and sharp?

    Wardrobe

Ah, a bit late, now, Mike, but thanks for the idea, I'll try it next time. But the shoe polish does look very good.

    Wardrobe

I roped in my friend Charlie to help, but he is camera-shy. I'm really glad I did, actually, I could never have done it on my own. We had a system. Trestles alongside my assembly table. Bag on the table with the platten inside and a couple of long runners on the platten. They were so that the...

    Parf guide rental

I'm in Kirkby-in-Ashfield, just off M1J28, so not a million miles away if you want to come and get it. I'll make you a cuppa. It does the full width of a standard sheet and you just index it up as far as you want to go. It's too big to ship, really. Packaging it up would be a pain.

    JSP PowerCap

I took mine out. It's a bit of a fiddle, but it just unplugs. Actually there are two of them. Mine is the PowerCap Lite, so I don't know how different it is from the PowerCap.

    JSP PowerCap

No, sorry I don't. I was thinking more generally. If you have the spec of the battery I would have thought that any battery place would be able to help. But maybe I'm wrong. I have County Battery 200 yards from my front door.

    Parf guide rental

Where are you? I have a CNCd template you could use. You would need a 1/2" cutter and a 30mm guide bush for your router.

Give a tenner to charity: mystery box

Nice! Excellent. My tenner is going to the local food bank. S

Do you need to strengthen a mitre joint

Well you are not going to get a Mafell for that, but there are plenty of others in your price bracket, it's just a matter of choosing one. Bear in mind, though, that with most things in life, you get what you pay for. My first BJ was a Freud, £120, probably over 30 years ago. Link

Do you need to strengthen a mitre joint

They won't work as well as a biscuit or a cross-spline, because of the grain direction, but they will be better than nothing.

    Fixing a marking gauge

They won't slip, the outside is a coarse thread. Just make sure you drill out to the correct core size, first. BTW, they are called Threaded Inserts. https://www.screwfix.com/search?search=insert+m6

Do you need to strengthen a mitre joint

For a design like that, yes, definitely. But it doesn't need to be overkill, a row of biscuits will do just fine. Your bigger problem will be clamping it, I think.

    Fixing a marking gauge

A photo or two would really help, I think. It's almost certainly fixable, one way or another. S

    JSP PowerCap

The JSP is excellent. Yes, there is a noise, but it is not very intrusive. I don't know why you would want a spare battery, but if you do, there are plenty of 3rd-party suppliers.

    The New Ferrex Bandsaw Aldi

I don't know about that particular belt (is it a V-belt or a flat belt?) but the first place I would try is an ordinary motor factors. If they haven't got what you need in stock they usually have a catalogue of every type of belt under the sun.

    Bridge City Hand Planes

My dad gave me his on his death bed, literally. It was a beautiful plane. "It only needs pushing", were his last words to me. It was stolen as part of The Great Haul. I did not use it often, but when I did, my goodness, it was the best. I'd like it back, but I just hope that whoever has it now...

    More books for sale

I had that! I built a table, four chairs (dowel joints, lasted 5 minutes) and a bench (still going strong in a mate's shed). That takes me back. S
