Just an INCH but not as we know it.

I used to have a Pattern-Maker's rule. It was my granddad's (he was a pattern-maker) and it had four different 24" scales on it. One was a true 24", the others were used when making moulds for cast iron, or bronze or aluminium. They were all bigger than 24", but if you made the pattern to size...

New Table Saw or New Fence System

That looks very similar indeed to the first TS I had, c1991. Different colour (Axi green, at the time), but very similar design. Round fence bars. There is a rod that runs the length of the fence and hooks over the back. It helps to lock the fence in place. Which particular place is debatable...

New Table Saw or New Fence System

Don't bother with a set. The cheap ones are not great and you won't use most of them. Buy a tap wrench and an M6 tap. Buy decent quality, rather than a bigger set. Then you can add taps as you need them. It's a better use of your money.

New Table Saw or New Fence System

If I can do it, anyone can, I am no metalman, I can assure you. As marcross says, make it adjustable and you are away. If I were to make it again, the only thing I would change is the section dimensions of the main fence itself. I used 50mm wide x 25mm high. Next time I would use 50mm wide x...

New Table Saw or New Fence System

Your existing fence does not sit square BECAUSE it clamps at fore and aft. It is a recipe for disaster, as you have found out. A good fence uses the 3-point system, like the Beismeyer and the Xcalibur (I have the latter rather than the former - sadly no longer available). When I filmed my...

What do you use compressed air blower in your workshop for?

The blower bit is something of a problem. I use it to clean out the gears of my TS tilt and rise & fall mechanisms, but I have been told that that is no longer approved by the HSE (I did always use a full-face respirator when doing so, but that doesn't justify breaking the law, I know). Today I...

Help ! - Fobco Star pulley removal

FWIW, I have a Meddings Pacera called Lulu (she was built the same year as Shout!, though in hindsight I should have called her Cilla the Pilla Drilla from the same era...). I think she is very similar, and though she is a lovely machine in many, many ways, the pulley assembly is absolute...

    Aldi wine

How does that work, Phil? I would expect the alcohol to kill off the yeast?

Secret Santa 2019 - thanks, everyone.

And there was me thinking you'd been given a paint scraper... Excellent.

The plinth is arguably the most involved part of the build, hence the length of this video. Designed to appeal to insomniacs... Part 5 - The one about building the plinth: reI7hyvy7bs Edit - replacement file due to some very weird behaviour!
