Cheese slicer kit in the UK?

If you make your own I highly recommend using molybdenum wire. Amazingly strong stuff, - I have a reel of 0.1mm and can't break it with my hands!

Never let them tell you its above your pay grade.

Makes me wish we had houses like that over here. You've got most of the house without laying a single brick! Amazing piece of work though. Oh well, great fire of London and all that...

Is there a maker's mark? Some kind of clue there if there is.

    Help identifying tool

The round bar thing at the bottom looks to be attached to a square bar with a pointy bit near the hinge. Is this part removable, or slidable, and is the thing that looks like a pointy end in fact, a pointy end?

Why you need a full length well in your work bench.

I won't resist, since it's apparently futile! Particularly like the extra rails for the lights to slide under. Nicking that idea...

Why you need a full length well in your work bench.

On the subject of pockets: I have nail pockets and cargo pockets and pencil pockets in my work trousers - I don't carry a tool bag anymore, just fill my pockets! Would be a bit different if I had to carry anything sharp though. Nail pockets are particularly useful, and I can stuff several...

Straw poll for the well-users: how deep is it?

Glue for mending cracked wheelie bin?

I can attest to the effectiveness of cable ties! Our Lads and Lasses were in the habit of breaking the insert (which we don't have anymore, thankfully) in our recycling bin - a new one was broken on its first collection! So I "stitched" it with cable ties. Didn't break again though the seam got...

    DIY Powerwall / Battery

Well that's quite mind-easing! And a very enlightening link, thank you. By the time I even look at inverters I suspect yours will be long gone, but thanks anyway.

Hmm, Ruskin and you both echo my own thoughts. Trouble is, lack of budget!

    DIY Powerwall / Battery

Bought house with solar panels, they are about 12yo so mid-life. We talked about getting batteries at the beginning but commercial systems prohibitively expensive, but it's still something we'd like - so this looks like a much more affordable option. So anyway, I had a quick look at 280Ah EVE...

    Spokeshave screw rusted solid

Heat as mentioned above. Doesn't need to be so hot it affects the temper of the blade though! I've also had success with "rocking" - alternate loosen/tighten movements. Even though it doesn't seem to be doing anything, it can cause the top little bit of rust to start breaking up, so you can lube...

Just seen this remarkable bowl making process. Thought I'd share! https://www.instructables.com/A-Bowl-Using-Just-a-Mitre-Saw/

    Hinges in mdf

You can get cranked hinges, so they look like a butt hinge with the pivot at the front, but actually are bent around the door so they screw in from the back. Don't know the proper term for them. Circumvents any splitting problem quite neatly, if you are able to use them.... Oh, apparently...

    Tree in a tree!

Wow. Trees are amazing :) Mine is similar to your one, Yojevol - a sycamore growing in an ash. Less impressive version though! How high was it pollarded?

    Tree in a tree!

I found myself in Rolleston on Dove today, and went to have my lunch by the water. I spotted this on my way... The little blighters get everywhere!

Electrical diagram software ¦¦ Open Source?

You are likely to find it quicker and easier to hand-draw the diagram. Free software that is easy to use includes Fritzing, which may also be most appropriate to you use. More complex software includes the geda suite of tools, free (but only in cost) are the basic versions of DesignSpark and...
