    Ebonising oak

It might be this video that got me wondering about the best method. At one point he has a clip of different concentrations and says to click the link but there isn't one! Maybe that vid will be out soon

Thank you for the ideas I'll give them a go

    Ebonising oak

I like to stain some of the oak I work with and use acectic acid with iron wool. It'll typically take a couple coats and to get things a bit blacker, instead of a blue/purple hint to it, I add a coat of a tannin product dissolved in water. My question is can I just add the tannin to the acetic...

    portable chisel storage

That is some very nice looking chisel storage. Are those Harold and Saxon chisels at the top? Or did you ever get to try them and review? I have recently purchased some HNT Gordon goodies and think they're fantastic. Seeing their chisels on the webpage is very appealing!

Three intersecting pyramids. The last model I have to make for the stage of the course I'm on. Very tricky working all the lines out but once it was done it all made sense. Very stressful getting it home after finishing without breaking any bits off

    For Sale Clifton number 5

Clifton number 5 for sale. It's had minimal use but does have marks from being used. Nothing that affects it's performance. I don't get to use it anymore and would rather sell it than leave it in a draw for years not using it. Can take more pictures of anyone wants. Collection Basingstoke or...

    Bandsaw has lost power

I have a Record sabre 250. It is about 18 months old and had low to average amount of use. When I first got it I had no trouble cutting through anything at a pace that was slow enough to leave a nice finish. I have always used the same tuffsaw blades. Cuts it used to make very comfortablely it...

This was a tricky one. It was a part of the course so I had to rush it a bit but I'll remake one similar and have it as a base to a table. One leg has a single notch, one has 2 notches and the third has none. It slides straight through. Unfortunately I can't work out how to add the video of the...

Here's the joiners trestle. Not something I'll be keeping because it's just another task on the course but working out the 3 differently rotated crosses felt like it was giving my brain a hernia. More practice finishing which I got horribly wrong on this but the glue ups have improved

A nice set of curved legs

That looks great. Thank you for the write up👍

    Most suitable glue

I can but then they get damaged/stained when I remove the glue. None of it is a massive problem. Just something I am hoping doesn't have to be as time consuming to fix as the taping idea
  16. H

    Most suitable glue

I have and it does help get rid of most but there is some grain lift and without using too much water it always leaves the hardest part to get rid of still there in the hardest to get to gaps. I don't want to over wet it because the hardest to get to parts are normally right next to the most...

    Most suitable glue

I make models with intricate sections, tough to get to afterwards areas, but where glue right up to the edge is important. Picture attached for clarity I need glue right up to the point of the crosses because they taper to zero so could easily be caught and pulled off/damaged. I use the crosses...

It'll be going to my nephew who's 3. No real practical use (it is all about learning how to figure out and picture the angles) but I can't bare to smash it up
