    Ripping 20mm mdf for skirting

I guess if he only wants to fit the skirting, and not get into woodwork as a hobby, a tracksaw might be an expensive day out for 2 lengths of skirting..... whereas buying skirting and just cutting to length is easier 😉

    milling a 4mm wide slot

im no expert, but aren't the holes normally stepped / tapered? ie. you chisel out a quarter of the depth at 14mm, a quarter at 11.., a quarter 8, quarter at 4mm and then fit the handle ( with ferrule ) i believe they drive the chisel blade into softwood a bit to hold it, then knock the handle...

    Exterior door weather bar.

Use parcel tape over the boards used to clamp, epoxy shouldnt stick to that 👍

    Ripping 20mm mdf for skirting

Hi, first off, what mdf is it? Brown or green? Are the edges 'fluffy' in appearance? I ask because there are different grades of mdf and if brown mdf or fluffy green mdf ( lower resin content than trade ) then it'll take a fair bit of work to get it looking decent when you paint it. In which...

    Rough timber for table top?

Yep, definitely a keeper, but maybe think of something other than a table.... If you ripped it down the centre, turn one piece end for end, youd have the makings of a long feature shelf .... bit of resin to infil the holes? Plenty of character there

    Startrite T30 spindle moulder

    Domino or Jessem's creation.....

@Spectric , do you have any long lengths of domino? im wondering if you can do a few plunges, insert a 10" long domino and then check the tenon for square and parallel against the workpiece? You might have already done that 🤷‍♂️

    Itech BS400 bandsaw

😬 You could try ringing sco sarg and asking.... they'll hopefully give an unbiased view, especially if you make the point about buying at a distance. Could you mock up a matching table height with a workmate or trestles, add a top and pretend?

Hands on Experience of Bonding Heavy Laminations Using Epoxy?

If youve got a couple of old handsaws ( disposable ) kicking about, you can make a notched spreader to suit your purpose. Cut off a legth of sawblade, file the teeth down to within say 1mm high and give it a try.... on a general purpose disposable, thats probably 1mm gap and 3mm tooth, 1mm gap...

    Kitchen corner posts

The majority of kitchens i have fitted are howdens. The corner posts for base units for instance are 57mm x 60mm. The standard measurement from a wall to the unit that butts up to the corner unit ( lets say a 1000mm with magic corner baskets ) is 631 / 632mm. Thats a unit depth of 575 plus the...

    Knive sharpening.

If you consider a truly sharp blade ( a straight razor, often hollowground ) , is usually sharpened both sides, can cut hanging hair with barely any contact..... but it wont last long chopping carrots ( or wood 😆 ) . A knife, generally, has to be sharp and durable so I'd echo the comments...

Old Stanley’s or new Quangsheng planes? Which do I need?

👏 that's great, this sort of thing is how it should be A vintage stanley 60 1/2 is seriously worth considering. Mind you, as some will point out, a low angle block plane might be say 13°? But the bevel is up.... so add your secondary angle of say 28 to 30 degrees and you get....... A similar...

    Paul, his version of sharpening

Facebook is crap. < edit: that wasn't quite what i typed I'd like to be in a position where i felt relaxed and not under pressure 😆 unfortunately most of it is actually self imposed, as whilst i understand it, i cant seem to change it.... constantly worrying about something 🙄

    Domino or Jessem's creation.....

Hi clogs, in terms ofbearning its money, it kinda doesn't have to.... on ebay, people were actually selling df500s a couple of years old, for literally 700 quid. I paid 750 new 🙄 why even bother buying 2nd hand???? 50 quid? Next comes the obvious.... there are posts on here from people who have...
