    Sedgwick P/T

Good shout doug, the outfeed does look fixed. Theres a good way forward though with setting the knives.... get 6x neodymium rare earth magnets and 2 very straight bits of 2x1 or similar.... glue ( epoxy ) magnets as shown in the drawing. When you set the knives, put a piece of paper under the...

    Water staining on cedar cladding?

I did a job a few years back with cedar cladding. The customer ( a competent and intelligent person ) sanded the cladding to 180g, but from memory de silva ( the supplier ) recommended 80g ( with the grain ) If you go too fine it reduces the amount of penetration by the finish. How many...

    Water staining on cedar cladding?

As above, let it be.... But if you #really# have to, sand it back then apply oxalic acid , lightly rinse off and leave to dry, then oil. But i wouldnt bother, ive seen far worse water staining, its not all that noticeable

Workshop in garden shed and noise

Doesnt sound like particularly noisy stuff.... not like a disc cutter or router levels of noise so it'll probably be absolutely fine. You could always knock on your immediate neighbours doors and let them know, but it doesn't sound like you will need to.

How To Make This Wedge Holding System?

What pollys13 was aiming at, i think, is that if you cut the wedges from the rectangle to gain both the shaped piece and wedges, the wedges ( to tighten to the workpiece as there'll be a small gap ) would go in past the edges of the shaped piece. Of course you just cut the original shaped piece...

    Workshop machinery dust covers?

Interestingly ive got a shipping container workshop. When i had my first winter, the machines started getting surface rust. I cleaned them up, got some waterproof fabric i had, covered each one up and a week later, rusted again! I tried blankets but still rust. In the end i insulated the...

    Cordless jigsaw recommendation ?

Ive got makita brushless. Its ok. Its got an intermittent problem with the blade holder. Most importantly, look for festool fine cut blades.... i get mine on ebay, they are great for clean cuts in oak and minimal splintering with reasonable quality ply. Festool do different blades for curves...

Pergola post bowed - advice pls

Its a reasonable idea ( the angle irons ) but over that length, they will deflect. I set a 3mm stainless angle into a table once and when the wood moved, the angle bowed.... it was only 850mm across the grain. 5mm is stronger, but box section is stronger still. A box section 5mm mounted to one...

    Feeling very violated today

Theres so much to this.... the internet ( especially youtube ) has a big part to play in it and these days you arent supposed to reprimand your kids in case you cause them irreparable psychological damage 🤣. We are guilty of letting ours watch more tv than they should. Ive tried to limit...

    Cordless lawnmowers any good?

Ive got a makita twin 18v, it's ok. It lacks sufficient power to cut the grass when it gets long, so ideally you need to keep on top of it. Ive probably got 80 to 100 sqm of grass and it doesnt use much of the batteries. Maybe a quarter of the 5ah. Its light and quiet, 18"ish cut I would prefer...

He's got plenty of ground to bury them 🤣 Failing that, just retreat to the panic room and called liam neeson ( other hollywood action stars are available, although i wouldnt recommended steven seagull 😆 )
