    First Guitar build

Very good 👍 Your thread makes it look fairly achievable, but i bet theres some hard bits, like getting the front and back to the required thickness and the soundhole inlay, trussrod etc?

Belt sander racing. Still mad as hatters.

I wish i had time on my hands for fun! I used to, but then kids and a mortgage put paid to 'spare time' and now all i do is work..... even if i had time all of a sudden, i dont have spare money 😆🤣

How to mount Blum soft-close hinge with push to open?

On ones i fitted, there is vertical adjustment by way of grey plastic bits at the front that look like wedges. These can slide forwards or backwards to raise or lower

    Stupid injuries

I know a guy who has run his fingers through a spindle moulder.... and seperately a planer whilst doing curved work. We used to call him fingers, now its fingers and thumbs. A couple of his fingers are badly mangled and point sideaays, so when he points towards something telling you to get it...

    Long Clamp Advice

If you got lovejoys clamp heads, look for a length of 2x1 box steel. 3mm thick will be good. Box steel easily available in 5m or 7.5m lengths, so you can go as long as you want 😉

What finish is on hardwood floor boards and how to get rid of it?

If you thickness it, make sure you alternate the feed area ( i.e, dont run 50 boards through the centre of the thicknesser, run them through in different places ) otherwise it'll blunt the centre quickly

What finish is on hardwood floor boards and how to get rid of it?

Try using a sharp chisel as a scraper. You can get good downwards pressure with them, you might find the coating is sat on top and not really soaked in. You could try nitromors or look for a chemical stripping service near you ( they dip it in and then blast it off with a pressure washer...

    Hand Tools from Japan

If the steel on those blades is good, would one make a good fine tooth saw? As for the possibile washita, im pretty sure novaculite stones were made in various places. Britain had charnley forest, japan also produced some, so maybe its a Japanese novaculite?

    Dimensioning by hand

I dont have a scrub plane, just a couple of number 4s, a couple of 5s and a few block planes etc As a site carpenter, most of my planing is with a makita powered planer or the block planes. In the workshop ive got a 12" p/t. Ive never even tried to dimension a project by hand, probably wouldnt...
