    Some resin advice?

Some good points above.... for casting a tumbler, epoxy is the best option, less shrinkage, better impact resistance and lots of other factors, but it takes a while to set up, so it'll need regular stirring if the particles start to settle. You'd want to mix up first thing and be around all day...

    Trusses

If i understand what you are doing correctly, you will end up creating a u shape of 4x4 material to go over the posts to take the rafters and tie the front gable together. You can cut the ends of the timbers on the wall plates to allow the front crossmember to join in. It could be a half lap...

    Trusses

For a span of 2m 4x2 should be fine. Wall plate would be 4x4 to match the post. A 4x2 on its flat won't be enough over 1.8m. Are you going to want the valley rafters hidden or visable? Remember that the centre of the valley rafter is the centre of where the 2 pitches intersect both top and...

Help!! Door square and flat, cabinet square, door not closing properly!

Great, so now, you must check to see if the top and bottom of the door are parallel when closed or if it becomes twisted once closed. On those hinges, Instead of having full adjustment pushing the door forwards, if you adjust the front of the door back towards the cab just a bit instead of being...

    Some resin advice?

Firstly, mix a small test batch a put it in a shot glass with your favourite sprinkles, mix them and observe. You'll probably find the sprinkles are suspended successfully and dont sink, therefore requiring no further action. 'If' you need to move them around, beware of the timescales...

Help!! Door square and flat, cabinet square, door not closing properly!

If you are using kitchen style hinges, it is possible to gain a twist through incorrect adjustment. Firstly, check the door for winding whilst it is open, then shut it and check again using winding sticks or 2 box section levels etc. Sometimes if you extend a hinge fully outwards for instance (...

what's wrong with my planing technique?

Generally a nice medium dry cider.... interestingly tescos sell one called crumpton oaks. Its bottled and cheap, about 90p!!! But, at first it has a sulphur kind of taste, like strongbow 🤢 but if you let it sit in a glass for an hour, it mellows into a really nice drink ( once the bubbles have...

what's wrong with my planing technique?

What you need is cider. Get yourself some pieces of timber to practice with. Each time you fail to get a nice flat edge, have a pint of cider...... youll be proper happy before you know it and straight/ flat edges can wait for another day 🤣

    Working in a small workshop

Mine is a 40 foot shipping container, high top. Its tricky for wide stuff 😑 Mind you, i dont have overheads apart from electricity as i own the container and its on family land. I also dont get in there all that often as I'm a site carpenter so its just bits n bobs, occasionally built in...

    Building grade timber quality

Oh yes we do.... delivered timber is hit and miss. I had a 6k order delivered in june, some was dead straight. Out of 28 lengths of 7x2, c24, about half were proper twisted. I had to build the first half of the flat roof with the good stuff, do all noggins etc, the build the second half bending...

    Working in a small workshop

Nope, he means the bit above the blade.... if you were cutting landscape, the piece above wants to drop down as the saw goes thru. You can wedge or pack the cut to avoid the bit on top dropping

    Working in a small workshop

You could build a bench 600 wide along one wall with pull out 4x2 extensions, giving about a metre wide. A panel saw is a good option in my opinion...... They do, often you either get a packer the width of the saw kerf and insert them as you progress thru the cut, or just wedges. Whatever...
