You 'could' use a scraper, get in under the original paint and scrape it all back. I think id probably sand it flat, seal with zinsser and then redecorate with bathroom paint

If youve got enough material, try making 2 or 3 boxes.... that way if you fubar a step, you can have another bash at it armed with the knowledge you just learnt from failure... plus, it'll take the pressure off the project knowing you have a fall back

Nice find! Ive seen little benchtop ones like that go for over 100 quid. A quick google for 'vintage bench top planer ' showed a number of hits, so youd need to go through photos looking gor a match. Does it have the fence??

I guess the question would be wether b.o.e interest rates are likely to exceed 5% for the majority of the next 2 years...... I'd like to think rates might be able to go down again, so a 5 year fix doesnt seem great to me, but then who knows, it might go to 6 and stay there for 4/5 years?
