    Slatted oak door

Unfortunately im not a joiner, so not best suited to answer, but wouldn't a ledge and brace style door, but clad both sides, be suitable? You could use oak floorboards for the faces and mill out the grooves? Obviously you'd need to figure out the best way to secure the boards after the grooving...

Bad buying decisions or tool regrets

In respect to the riving knife debate..... i used to use a makita 240 circular saw, it had a knife. In fact, just for completeness, i just googled new makita 240v circular saw and they have a knife. These days i have multiple 18v makita circ saws, they are so easy to use and no cable. Edit to...

    Buying cheap tools

This last bit..... it will depend on what each individual wants to achieve and why. For instance, im a site carpenter and speed and accuracy is important. Adam does a lot of varied work, like timber framing, carving, restoration etc. ( if i had a chance at a hobby, it'd be slower woodwork...

    Buying cheap tools

Oooooo hammers :) I like my estwing. It is very well balanced and great to use. Ive had a fair few over the years but the estwings always feel the best to use. I had an estwing 'go misding' so i bought a stanley 'surestrike' and I hated it from the first day. After a week i bought another...

Well mainly for the 3/4" setting being closer to 18mm material. Yep i know, 3/4 is about 19mm, but 18mm sheets goods ( from jewsons 🤣 ) are usually about 19mm , maybe its moisture absorption? Edit to add: in peters videos he uses a 1mm packer to shim up the height, ive seen that 👍

Well, i ordered one and I'll have it tomorrow. I also ordered a cmt 10mm bit as i realised it'll make some nice vent slots in some cedar cladding I'm doing ( insect mesh already installed ) and i could use it to make louvred doors nice and easy! Not that ive ever needed to make a louvred door 😕...

Compound sliding /mitre saw accurate cuts

You measure out and mark your length.... then you have to cut either to split the pencil line, or just after it on the waste side so you can trim back if its too long. What make / model is the saw? There'll most likely be a lever on the back to allow it to tilt over sideways and the front...

    How to insulate this wall?

I imagine in stigs case, it went inside. To have plasterboard on the wrong side of the insulation ( in the garage ) would put the dew point in the plasterboard.
