    Metabo BAS 317 Replacement Tire

I replaced the tyres on a kity 613, they had deteriorated badly when i bought it. I used a sharp chisel to remove most of the old ones, then acetone to finish the job ( wear goggles ) If the tyres are flat ( not crowned ) then yep the blue or orange ones often found on ebay should be fine.. one...

Tips for painting block walls of workshop

Medium or thick pile roller, depending on the blocks. Yep it uses more paint, but the time saved is huge compared to brushing it in. Or hire a sprayer or buy a cheapy if you can cover anything you dobt want painted 🙃

    Bench Buffing Machine

Being as the chisel support is orientated like a standard bench grinder, if the buffer went downwards, itd grab like a b1tch and ruin the wheel

    Moving granite worktop

When new, the stone tops are fragile, but fairly stable. Often sink cutouts have a cross of stone still in there and the fitters cut through it once it is in position. Once the tops are fitted, the cabinet might sink a touch, or the previous owner may have knocked it a few times or a few hot...

    Moving granite worktop

Ajb beat me to it! Ive had to remove a couple of stone tops to make openings bigger for range cookers etc. My weapons of choice were a multitool to carefully cut between worktop and cupboard, a few scrapers of varying stiffness and a couple of wedges for when you get it opening up..... just go...

    Long tracksaw rail bag

I would do as @dissuggested and make one.... it wont take long and will be 100% better than a bag when transporting it 👍

    Dust extraction accessories

Cheap doesnt go with dust extraction 🤣 Theres ductfix, who are good..... but it costs. Clear ribbed pipe will rob you of performance in a big way. Unfortunately if you want success youve gotta buy the kit

    Tree Table Project

Hi Jim, How long do you think the table took to make ? in the initial post you said a lot was done on 5 day courses ( i guess they have all the kit you could want ) so I'm thinking you must have spent 5 days making, then planning / problem solving inbetween the courses? Fantastic work 👏

Makita 1013 compound mitre saw -Clutch

Can you explain a bit more please? When you say 'clutch'..... it'll have a motor which spins the blade, so is the blade slipping / slowing when it contacts the wood? If so it could be brushes A quick google showed the saw has its motor mounted at 45° to the blade ( in line with it ) so not belt...

    New (old) honing guide

Mind you, if they seriously thought a crim would use his own car and plates, the cops couldn't be too bright 🤔 One of my neighbours at a previous address, had a seat ibiza which had a missing front bumber and minor damage to a wing.... she had it parked in her space in front of her garage. One...

    New (old) honing guide

I had a brown Peugeot 205 ( nicknamed the flying sh1te ) I bought it off a garage for 40 quid, with 4 months mot. It only had 1st, 3rd and 5th, but a new gear linkage from a scrap yard fixed that 🤣 It passed its next mot! Bits used to fall off ( like the bumper and rear windscreen wiper ) and...

    Dust Extraction

I can't pronounce whatever you just typed, but I'm a fulltime carpenter..... ive probably breathed in more mdf than you'll ever get to sand 😆🤣 I'll probably die young ( which better be soon because i dont feel that young any more ) , however, if you check out bill pentz's website and info, you...

    Chopping boards

Butchers blocks were made of end grain 9ak werent they? I thought the tannins in oak were a natural antibacterial? In any case, ive got an oak chopping board and I'm still breathing 🤷‍♂

    No No's on projects

I tend to use a short bolt to wind them in with, that way the head wont shear off and the body cant crumple up👍 its useful to put a washer between the bolt and fixing to aid removal
