New Record Power Sabre 350, cast iron imperfections

My workshop is a single skin brick garage. It only gets heated when I'm in it and it is very cold - so not often. It isn't damp though. Use the camelia oil on iron surfaces (BS / TP / planes etc) and dont seem to get any rust at all. I might refresh the camelia oil maybe every 6-8 weeks and it...

New Record Power Sabre 350, cast iron imperfections

I tend to agree with @akirk . mine was bought when the saw was first released, and I've not had a minutes bother with it (well ok , just a smidge now and then). After you have used it for a while it will be worn in. The marks will become a bit meh unless they are affecting the movement of wood...

    Microfiber Cloths Advice Needed

Definitely a +1 for the Tac Cloths as mentioned above. But if it's microfibre you are wanting then I've been using these from Costco. They are a bit cheaper in the warehouse if you have a membership. I use them for all sorts (house / car cleaning, buffing wax on wood), but what i have done...

    Material Suppliers

I used Kitronik for all the veneered MDF I used in my office build (Office Furniture ). The service and prices were great. I was going to use Box.co.uk for filament but they seem to have little stock ATM. Using Amazon currently, so would appreciate any alternatives any one is using.

Latest thing you have printed / machined / cut

Well I got around tuit this morning to print the dovetail guide mentioned above. this is the wooden version I made about 5 years ago, after watching the Paul Sellers video on it. A quick draw in Fusion to replicate it, and then off to the Garage to print it. First print I did seemed to be...

Latest thing you have printed / machined / cut

They look good @supertom44 . I’ve tried a few dt guides and the katz-moses one (similar to these) is the one that worked for me. One of the first things i made in woodworking was Paul Sellers dt marking gauge. Used it for a few years, think it may be time for a 3d printed version :)

Latest thing you have printed / machined / cut

that would be why there is a woodworking forum, and the CNC / 3D printing forum. Your in the latter - for woodworking discussions you may want to jump over to the other forum. Nice box @supertom44 - never worked with Purpleheart I must get some.

Industrial unit rental/purchase for hobby use

I went down this route. A small one for the furniture (cushions etc) and a large one for the mower, pressure washer etc. I put a shelf in the large one and another pile of junk carefully kept items now reside on that. This freed up loads of space in my 7x5 shed. I also bought one of these...

Do fix broken stuff or buy again?

For me Dean, it depends… if the tool is of some value, money or because i like the tool, then definitely fix it if I can. I occasionally buy a cheap tool if its for a one off job and wouldnt look to fix these if/when they break. Anything in between, i’d probably have a go for a while, it then...

    Which 3d printer - 2023 edition

Bloomin typical. I've had the X1C for less than 2 weeks and the price has dropped by £80! The rest of the Bambu range also appear to have dropped in price too - so if anyone is considering one, you have probably just saved enough for 3-4 rolls of filament.

Withdrawn Lie Nielsen Bevel Edge Chisels

For the time being I've decided to withdraw these from sale. Thanks @IanB and @hgd356 for your interest. I'll give you both a heads up if I decide to sell them in future.

Latest thing you have printed / machined / cut

I thought I would create a similar thread to the latest thing you have made in the woodwork forums. I've been printing ad hoc since I got the printer a couple of weeks ago. Some things have been held up with well life getting in the way. Today I printed one of the things that i had been wanting...

    Which 3d printer - 2023 edition

I've had to calm myself down on this :D Otherwise I would run out of filament.... Anyhoo. Perfect print of a backgammon doubling cube. Followed by a perfect print of a headphone bracket. It was larger than I thought, Too much for my office, but amply hold my dewalt goggles, 3m ear defenders...

    Which 3d printer - 2023 edition

Thanks for all the comments folks. I plumped for the Bambu X1C. I didn't go for the AMS module (yet), as I can't see myself printing multi colour items initally. I queried Bambu as to their stock levels as it was showing an ETA of Mid June (UK). But then i noticed it was back in stock...

Withdrawn Lie Nielsen Bevel Edge Chisels

You sure about that @Lefley ? Only, when I look on the Lie Nielsen site , those five chisels come to $480. That's excluding sales tax, the import duties and VAT payable on shipping to UK. @IanB and @hgd356 you will have first dibs on the 1" and 3/8" respectively, if and when i do split.
