SEnsible / safe heating for workshop (aka the garage)

Sometimes if it gets really cold (i.e. below freezing) i put a jumper on. On a serious note ;-) , i use a 2kw fan heater for when i am in the garage (single skin brick, poxy steel door) - usually gets the temp up to 10-15 degrees which is warm enough for me. Only problem i have is with gluing...

    Bandsaw help

Hi Chris, Have you seen the Robert Snodgrass video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGbZqWac0jU ) ? It basically demonstrates what SunnyBob is saying. If you follow this, then you shouldn't be far wrong. Also Peter Millard has done a few videos on Aldi Bandsaws...

    Which digital vernier caliper

I did almost exactly the same as Trevanion. Started with an Aldi special, which after about 2 years started giving measurements that were way off. I use it now without the digital scale just to get rough measurements. Bought the same M&W one above - can't fault it.

The North of England Woodworking & Power Tool Show 2019

I will likely go on friday . Been the last few years . Not had any luck with discounts personally. In fact one year i went to the Trend stand for a T11 and CRT router table - it was about £60 more than amazon. Needless to say it got delivered the next day ;-) Trend wouldn't budge on their "Show"...

    bessey UniKlamps experiences

I bought 4x600mm uniklamps at the weekend - i’ll let you know :-). Was also planning to buy 4x1000mm this month too . Would also agree on the aluminium clamps being carp too - even with wooden stiffeners in, mine twist and distort every time i use them

    Office Furniture

thanks Pete - I've bought a pair of runners from screwfix and they seem fine, so will try them in the prototype. The problem I have is getting a set that fit , so the screw positions fit into the stiles of the units. The screwfix ones dont have any drawings / dimensions for this. The other ones...

    Lumber storage?

Another one for vertical storage - I don't have much choice with limited space for storage. ALso I'm fortunate in that the floor is bone dry.

    Office Furniture

Hi All, I'm currently planning to build some custom office furniture as my first major project. My current office is a bit haphazard in furniture terms and I would like have a modern but classy type look, with plenty of storage and desk space. The images below show my current thinking, and I...

Satin/gloss clear finish to veneered boxes

I've just tried some Osmo PolyX clear glossy (3011) for the first time. applied 3 very thin coats, wiped on, followed by some fiddes clear wax and buffed. First impressions are it's a bit similar to shellac blonde i used a few months back. This was a test for a forthcoming project I'm planning...

    Newbie sourcing materials

Hi, I keep meaning to try Timber Specialists on Herries Road South (opposite Kop @ Hillsborough). They seem to have a good range of ply listed on their website - don't know if they can cut it on site for you either https://sheffield.timberspecialists.com/plywood I'd be interested to know...

Festool vacuums - educate me please

I think a CTL midi could well be my next purchase. I currently have a RP DX1000 for larger equipment, and a Titan TTB350VAC for smaller tools (KS60, Track Saw, Router etc.) The Titan is very noisy so am looking for something quieter that also fits the KS60. Does anyone have an opinion /...

    Any Festool ks60 owners...

It does look like it is removable, but it will only save you about 25-30mm at the back as the clamping knob for the bevel cut protrudes out the back too

    Any Festool ks60 owners...

Hi Oobaa my kapex ks60 sits on a mobile cart which is 610mm deep (front to back) this accommodates the saw at zero degrees right through to the dust hose out the back. I've done you two measurements the first includes the base front to back, the second is upto and including the cable tidy...

Does anywhere in UK sell these type of hold down clamps?

Morning (or afternoon) Derek, Exactly the same purpose. I am planning to either make the same jig for morticing or use my router table - haven't decided which yet. But those dovetail clamps look much more versatile - thanks for pointing those out. Ian
