Sabre 350 Bandsaw Stand - Worth having?

I used 4 pieces of timber to lift mine up . Ran two down the outside each side of the mobile base, then pushed the bs up from the front and set the 3rd piece along the front edge , repeated for the rear, the the mobile base just slides out. Adjust size, repeat in reverse and you haven’t even...

Sabre 350 Bandsaw Stand - Worth having?

Hi Richard, yes it catches ever so slightly. I also have the issue with the rear wheel. I did extend it by one hole length wise, and push the BS to the back of the mobile base. That gives me just enough clearance to open the door wide enough. I only store blades and a pair of gloves in there, so...

Sabre 350 Bandsaw Stand - Worth having?

I've got my 350 on the Axminster light duty mobile base (Axminster MB-518 Light Duty Mobile Base). I was going to buy the wheel kit, but after making a planer carriage the above was freed up so used that. It's been fine to date with no issues (as long as you keep your nuts tightened up -...

Pillar drill buying advice, Bosch PBD40?

Hi Doug, a thread from a short while back Bench drill - Bosch PBD40 . I'd still stand by my comments in that post. It hasn't missed a beat for me.

    Saw stands

Hi Phil, I had the evolution one as my first chop saw and stand. I sold it with the saw when I upgraded to a KS60. It worked fine for all the things I wanted to do with it. IIRC it was pretty sturdy, I never thought the extensions were wobbly at all. I bought it to lay a deck and it was fine...

    Axminster price increases

Wow, that looks like the 2nd big price hike in the last two years. I was thinking of getting the 1hp chip extractor. It was ~£170 2 years ago, then ~£200 last year, but always out of stock. It is now £250, that is almost a 50% increase in 2 years. My AC250PT was £800 (free del) when I bought it...

Before I buy PAR hardwood from G&S online.. would you recommend me to look somewhere else?

Have you looked at the sticky in this forum for all the woodyards ? UK & Ireland TIMBER YARDS - PLEASE Add Your Favourites Is there one near you ? Do you have transport for collecting wood? The hardwood offcut shop is reasonably near you. It always seems to get good reviews and Peter Millard...

    Timber Yards

A1M? Duffields usually have some (not sure if air dried though) - 5 minutes away from J50 A1M . I would ring before hand to see what they have though - last time I called in about a month or so ago - the cupboard was pretty bare!

    Buying my first plane.

Where are you based Jimmy? Near an Axminster store? If i were you, I would go to the nearest one and try out all the demo planes they have and decide which one suits you best for the work you plan to do. Then if you want a new one, get one from them or elsewhere, but if you fancy an old one...

    Sorby Pro-Edge

I bought a pro-edge recently. It works very well for the turning tools I have. I've used it on an old chisel and wasn't satisfied with the results straight off the belt, so still hone on 3m scary sharp. I also needed to regrind a plane iron last weekend. It was a breeze on the pro-edge, took...

Hyundai 24l Silent Compressor and Silverline 50mm Nailgun

I've posted a couple of times looking for other peoples experiences / advice on getting a 18v nailer compared to an air nailer and compressor. I already owned an old machine mart ranger compressor that was the loudest thing on God's green earth - so loud I reckon I've used it about 3 times...

    1st Compressor & Nailer Issues

@Oscar43634 My couplers arrived this morning and I've been having a play. My first impression was that mine was fine, punching every nail (15mm ones to start and then 30mm ones after) about 1-2mm below the wood surface. I did find that occasionally I didn't pull the trigger quickly and that...

    Drawing software.

another +1 for sketchup. Used it for about 4 years now and would be at a loss without it. Not sure if there is an equivalent for the iPad. You can get a free sketchup viewer for the iPad (I use this a lot when in the workshop). But is doesn't let you do the initial design work. I've tried the...
