    Let down by Axminster Tools

Trust me if your wife has an upcoming birthday very fine dovetails will not be at the top of her wish list.

    COP26 progress or same old

Things need to change but no point in the likes of us cutting all emissions by exporting the problem to other countries who have no interest in being involved. I also remember the winter of 1963.

    Hobbies "Triumph" treadle scroll saw.

Nice machine. i have several different models but not a Triumph like yours. With regards to the drive belt the Singer type of belt is correct you need 5/16" or 8mm dia but you need to be careful where you buy it from, in my experience many online sellers are selling belts that are oval in cross...

    Brass butt hinges

I like the look of that any chance you could explain more about it. I like making boxes but there is no way I could justify paying silly money for Rolls Royce hinges and locks. I have in the past used hinges and locks from prokraft with good results but it is now my ambition to make boxes from...

    BBC Scaremongering again

I think that it would be a good idea for people to be careful what they wish for. Just maybe the time is not far off when the tv licence will be scraped in favour of a licence for all devices that have access the internet. Just saying.

    Telescopes

"Anyone able to point me in the right direction." I think you have to point the telescope in the right direction.

    Freecycle Finds

That fretsaw is a credit to you. I have 4 different models of Hobbies saws that need restoring and you may have inspired me to get on with them.

Is a split router fence really neccessary?

You don't need to make a new fence just fix a full length of ply or mdf across the fence you have,

Sold DeWALT Radial Arm Saw - model DW 1201

I think that we are not supposed to comment on for sale posts unless we want to buy but I can't help but say that if that saw is in the condition it looks in the photos at £75 that is a bargain.

Should I use a wood preserver?

It has been a long time since I used Dulux Weathershield on exterior wood but in the day it was a system with filler, knotting, primer, undercoat and top coat. I used the whole system and I have to say it was the best exterior paint I have ever used 25 years later there was no cracking or...

    Alternative to shiplap?

Personally I think that feather edge is the best product to use on any wooden garden building. I used it to clad my workshop after I had demolished a building that was attached to it and I am pleased with the result still after 5 years.

Series 2, land rover, soft top

As someone who has spent his working life in the motor trade and has had many classic cars pass through my hands and have restored many others for other owners I am just wondering what is your motivation for wanting to own more than 1 classic vehicle.

    Car purchasing advice UK

I don't think that this is a question that any one can advise on without a lot more info. The only advise I would give without knowing more is to delay your purchase for 6 to 12 months if you can as demand for cars at the moment is high and supply is low.

    Festool itch

I can't imagine that any self respecting criminal would steal Parkside tools. My take on the tools is if you want it, you can afford it then just buy it.

    Festool itch

Well I guess that if Festool replace stolen tools for 3 years that could go some way to explain the price.

    Festool itch

I am not a Festool basher but the 3 year warranty just brings them in in line with the Parkside tools from Lidl and is hardly a selling point.

    Lion wetstone sharpener

I can't tell from your photo if your machine is the same as mine. If it is mine came with a tool that fits into the slots in the black nut that you have to unscrew completely to remove the stone.

    Canada 50C/120F

I think that there is a problem with not only with climate change but air quality in general. I fail to understand that if governments are serious about making changes why the likes of Richard Branson and Jeff Bezos are allowed to develop space craft the only purpose of which is to propel...
