    Teeny tiny workshop and bench

In your situation with such a small space and bench I would go for a Zyliss vice or two. I have a bigger space than you and a bench fitted with a Record vice but also have 4 of the Zyliss vice kits that get more use than the fixed Record vice.

Really good customer service from Axminster

Internet sellers who are wise only charge the true cost of postage. As an example if I purchase scroll saw blades from Hobbies they charge £1.95 p&p and I consider that to be a true cost to them if I were to do the same order with Axminster there minimum charge below £50 is £4.95 It would make...

    Mains or machine on/off switching?

When you switch off at the machine it also releases the pressure from the cylinder and that reduces the load on the motor at the next start up.

    Skarsten scrapers

I have a selection of Skarsten scrapers that I used a lot in the past and have several projects to do now that I would like to use them for but find them to be blunt I have tried to find new blades but it seems that they are no longer made. Can anyone advise me if it is possible to sharpen the...

    new saw, first hurdle

I'm sorry but I cannot get my head round why the most expensive scrollsaw in the world needs to be fixed to the floor or a paving slab.

    Kity K5 combi machine

Lons who has the post above yours has a K5 machine and has helped many people out with a copy of the manual but I think that he is away for several weeks in Australia. It may be a good idea to send him a pm so he sees this or repost on this thread again in a week or two. If you have no luck in...

    A simple garden chainsaw mill

I think that your approach to woodworking is similar to mine and I look forward to your video and your next project. My disc sander based on your design is great

    Holdfast for £49

condeesteso many thanks for the detailed reply I was under the impression that you had to hit them hard for them to work thus giving little control but it is interesting to note from your reply that you don't. I also like your bench. James Thanks for the link to the video.

    Holdfast for £49

With all the options available these days does anybody use these on a daily basis and if so what are the advantages over the modern more controllable options?

    New bandsaw

Photo of 1/8 blade guides Photo of sander kit Iv'e never used the 1/8 blade guides but I doubt if they would last long as the black parts are plastic the disc rotates on the shaft I would think that every time you purchased a new 1/8 blade it came with new guides.

    New bandsaw

Quote I will probably start with seeing how it performs and getting a narrow wood blade for it. I don't cut much metal so probably not worth exploring that option too far. Have you got the sanding attachment? Is it any good? I do have the sander kit but to be honest I had forgotten about it...

    Ripping with Radial Arm Saw

As I said in my post before you do make sure that the saw is 100% set up as it should be you may have already seen it but there is a good general guide to this process here :- http://www.instructables.com/id/Setting ... /?ALLSTEPS I notice that some members make this sound simple but to quote a...

    New bandsaw

I have the opposite situation to you. I already own an Inca band saw but would also like a bigger one to complement it my ideal would be a Kity 613 but at the moment space and finance wont allow it. The kit you are asking about is Inca part number 342.186.68 however there is little to it. The...

    Ripping with Radial Arm Saw

I have a Dewalt Powershop 125 that I purchased new in the late 1980's and it is still one of my favorite machines in my workshop. It is important to remember that in those days the world was a very different place and all tools and machines were expensive so manufacturers tried to make there...

Green belt land and planning permission

I think that for anybody to give advice they would need much more information, at the moment all we know you have found a plot of land that even a farmer cannot access for farming and it is green belt land of 5 acres that you would like to build a house on and turn the land into a garden for the...

Green belt land and planning permission

That payment is called a section 106 payment and is not voluntary, having just got planning permission to build a house in our large garden we have got to pay the council £12000 before we can start work.

    Hobbies fret Saw

I can help with dimensions and pictures if needed but I think that if the table is missing I would take the opportunity to make a larger one out of ply. It would be nicer to use than the original.
