The Longevity of a Wooden Shed?

I have 2 wooden sheds. One was given to me second hand about 40 years ago and the other i purchased new at about the same time. Both are still going and have survived 3 house moves but have always been erected correctly with plenty of air flow all round and in my opinion most importantly both...

    Good alternatives to Tuffsaws?

First thing i would say is that i am not a fan boy for anybody. I think that the fact that you say your first blade lasted 10 months with your abuse is testement to it's quality. Have you spoken to tuffsaws about the problem with your 2nd blade before posting on here?

Using Bandsaw to Square up timber?

I think others have answered your question. The truth is that not all bandsaws are the same. I have a Kity 613 and an Inca and both would not work using the set up method so heavily prometed by the so called experts. If it has worked for you that's good but there will be many others searching...

    Reducing tearout on mitre saw.

For some reason there seems to be a school of thought that the best way to use a csms is to start the cut on the side away from the fence and cut towards the fence. This method will give you tear out on the top of the timber and will increase the risk of the timber lifting off table.

    This thing sucks.

For the past few years my dust extraction from hand held power tools has been via an earlex vac that i think cost about £20 and has done sterling service. Last week Lidl had an offer on their Parkside shop vac with built in power take off and variable speed control and i decided to buy one and...

    Stanley impact driver bits

I wasn't aware until your post that Stanley now own Irwin. In my opinion it is tragic that these massive companies just trading on brand names are allowed to reduce the quality and still command high prices for inferior items

Using Bandsaw to Square up timber?

Please can we all get to a situation where we can all agree that not all bandsaws are the same. This often promoted idea that the gullet of the blade needs to run in the centre of the wheels of all saws is missleading to say the least.

Using Bandsaw to Square up timber?

In my opinion inorder to square up timber using only a bandsaw you would need to start with one face totally flat and work from that to square up the other sides.

    .........

Sorry for the delay. I have just checked and neither of them have a brand name on them. The one in the front has a part number of YEA026 and the one in the back seems to be called a vivid pest chase off part number M690UK. Having done a quick search on the internet it would seem that they are...

    .........

I can't remember how it happened but we ended up with 2 different makes 1 in the back and 1 in the front i will look in the morning and let you know. I am sure they work because we have not used the camper much in the last 12 months but i check it on a regular basis and have not had the same...

    .........

I know that you have said that you have tried the electronic devices without success. We had a mouse problem in our camper van and now have 2 such devices one in the front and one in the back and have not had a problem since.

    This week's Lidl stuff

I purchased the shop vac and the grinder. I agree that the rests on the grinder are not the best but i think that it will fulfill my needs.

    Failed router template cutter.

I have a massive respect for you to have admitted that at least some of the problem could have been down to you. It is my opinion that the advent of budget price tools of any brand name has allowed many of us to achieve things on a small scale that we would have had no chance of doing before.

    Failed router template cutter.

It is my opinion that the op made a bad mistake and buying more expensive cutters will not help him unless he changes his work practices.

    Failed router template cutter.

I own a range of tools from the best to the lowest price and all serve their purpose. I don't understand how we have gone from router cutters to planes but as it happens a well respected member of this forum made a video of how to transform a £10 number 4 plane into something very usable. I...

Lidl Plunge Saw - Extra Track

Lidl and their suppliers are not selling this stuff at a loss. It just goes to show the true cost and how some other suppliers are just trading on long established brand names that can still command a premium price for the same item.

    Failed router template cutter.

This anty everything Silverline on this forum could well make some people think that unless they spend a fortune on tools they will not be able to achieve anything worthwhile. Let's not forget that a poor workman always blames his tools.

    Happy to be home

What on earth leads you to think that this country has never been wealthier?

    Happy to be home

Firstly i would like to say that it is good to hear that our NHS has done you prowd but secondly i would suggest that just throwing more money at it will never solve the issues there are many ways that it could become more efficient and the savings could then be directed to the areas in most need.
