    Compressor connector help

Personally i would suggest replacing the coupling on the compressor with a PCL coupling and then standardising all your other connectors and couplings on your hoses and tools with the same profile.

    Favorite YouTube woodworker

I also enjoy some of scrimpers videos. He is trying to share his experience without trying to become some sort of YouTube celeb. The problem with the bigger YouTube channels is that they start out with interesting content and then when they have a fair number of subscribers they start to just...

    Makers Central

I cant understand why the people running this event have chosen the most expensive venue in the country. I went to the Midlands woodworking show at Newark and would have to say that it was a nice venue, £10 to get in with free parking. In my opinion Makers Central is a show with limited appeal...

    MFT Length stop

Just to add, the nut in the photo is a nice snug fit in a 9mm hole drilled through both arms and with smooth sides that almost go through both arms it makes for a very smooth pivot that will cause minimal wear after a lot of use and of cause the bolt was cut to length to hold the arms tight and...

    MFT Length stop

Steve there is no way that I would suggest that I have improved on your idea, there is no way of knowing because you have not gone into details of how you made it. I was intreaged with the consept and decided to give it ago but struggled to make the pivot point accurate enough to make it...

    MFT Length stop

Just to add to my previous comment I was really impressed with your 3 pointed square that I can't remember what you called it but I have spent a lot of time trying to improve the pivot point and will post the results when finished but without your input I would not have known about it.

    MFT Length stop

That's a fair answer Steve and I also like to make jigs and have made several based on your ideas

    MFT Length stop

Without doubt that is a well made jig but how is it worth the effort of making it when an offcut clamped to the table would do the same job? I expect that it is only a matter of time before UKJ will produce one.

    Doweling jig advice needed

These videos on YouTube about the strength of a joint really only show the strength of the glue. Anybody making a t joint that will be put under those sort of loads needs to rethink the design.

    Doweling jig advice needed

Quote from Woodbloke. 2017. Silverline dowels are appalling...when I bought my Dowelmax some time ago the chap importing them from Canada told me that they were 'DIY quality' (his words) even though he supplied them with the jig. They vary in diameter so some are a reasonable fit and others are...

    Doweling jig advice needed

Rob Are you still being paid by Axminster to promote their products? If not would you care to explain the problem with Silver line dowels, I have been using them for a long time along with the plywood biscuits that they sell and can see no reason to change.

    Rutlands Plunge Saw

To be honest I think that before you start attacking the saw with a drill you should get someone else to look at it before you do anymore damage.

    Anyone heard of this guy.?

With payment being made by bank transfer and an email address being visible how can this be a scam. I agree that it is not straight forward but if you want rid of the item, you are happy with the price offered but think something may go wrong and that concerns you just refuse the offer and...

    Anyone heard of this guy.?

Just to add to make you feel more confident email him on the address clearly shown on his site to confirm it is actually him.

    Anyone heard of this guy.?

£ 85 is not a life changing amount of money if he does a bank transfer I don't think that can be reversed. If that is the only offer you have got for the item although it seems strange I would give it ago.

    Could come in handy? asvert;

It's funny how things have changed over the last 40 years. Over 40 years ago when I started into hobby woodworking a router was the stuff of dreams my router was a Stanley bridges drill with a set of rasps made by a company called CK along with a table that fitted on the S B drill press...

    Stanley Bridges vintage lathe

I think the bloke is talking about a Stanley bridges drill powered lathe. Without knowing more about what he has got we cannot help with what else he needs to have a working lathe.
  19. P

    Possible mistake?

If you end up buying it at that price you will end up with a usable starter lathe for not much money. If you now wish you had not placed a bid don't worry someone will out bid you just before the auction ends and you will have lost your chance.

    Fence for Drill Press

Personally I don't understand why people go to such lengths to make something as simple as a drill press table so expensive and complex.
