I don't think they would believe it nowadays?

When I was a lad I used to be a pheasant beater to earn a bit of cash and I have fond memories of the lunch time when we were given a plowmans lunch and a bottle of beer that we eat in a stone barn on the estate and the old guys mostly retired farm hands and gamekeepers had the most amazing...

    Aluminium sash clamps

From that photo of the clamps from Rutlands the walls of the bar are a lot thicker than the ones I have and I would think that they are perfectly good for normal clamping.

    Aluminium sash clamps

I have got 6 of the aluminium sash clamps and they are fine for light duty clamping. Shoving a piece of wood down the middle will not turn them into heavy duty clamps the main problem with them if you over tighten them to try and force a tight joint together the tooth on the sliding jaw will...

    Table Saw Problem

If the fence is parallel to the blade then you are either using the wrong type of blade for the job, the blade is blunt or you are feeding the wood through too fast.

The sharpening debate - razor blades!

Just man up and grow a stubble length beard and buy an electric trimmer and leave the blade shaving to the ladies.

    Sawdust...

Mixed wood dust is of no use to anybody who keeps animals of any sort and cares for their welfare. I dont produce industrial amounts of waste but what I do goes into the general waste bin. If you are producing a lot of waste perhaps ask around you local independent garages who use it to soak up...

Hi and welcome from a retired mechanic. It does sound to me that you are using a blade that is to fine.

Moving 18mm sheets without killing myself

For reasons I think you will all understand my wife was more interested in taking a photo of her gorgeous husband than the side of a shed on a sack barrow but it does show what you can do. The cargo strap was put on to keep the side of the very heavy shed upright over rough ground but is not...

Moving 18mm sheets without killing myself

Sorry I think I should have explained things better but I have moved sheet goods, fence panels and a shed this way for so long I thought that showing the idea would be enough for others to see it works. As can be seen from my photo my sack barrow is not a heavy duty one but is of the type with a...

Moving 18mm sheets without killing myself

Lay the sack barrow down on the ground slide the panel on to it with the centre just above the axel and you are good to go.

Moving 18mm sheets without killing myself

Many years ago we moved a 10ft x 6ft shed 40mts across the garden there was no way that the wife and I could carry it so I cut a slot in the base of a sack barrow and it worked a treat. Since then I have moved many fence panels and sheets of ply wood with it and the best thing is that it is...

    Just use the blade guard!

I am happy to now step out of this thread and leave it to you and others to decide the best way to do things.

    Just use the blade guard!

The push stick like jar994 and I prefere is not a push block that goes over the blade but is a push stick that also holds the wood down and can be used with the blade guard in place.
  17. P

    Just use the blade guard!

Same as jar994 above. If you use a thin push stick on lets say a 75mm board and you have the push stick close to the fence that will tend to push the far end of the cut into the rear of the blade. In my list of things to do I should have also mentioned not to have the blade set to high for the...

    Just use the blade guard!

Can't understand why through this entire thread that no body has mentioned that before anybody considers push sticks the main things to consider in table saw usage are as follows. Make sure that the fence is parallel to the blade. Use a short fence or a long fence with a short sub fence...
