    Fixing door lining gaps...

That’s not really how door hanging works.

    Splitting the line.

Half the line on the side you want should still be visible. It sounded impossible when I started out as an apprentice but with practice and time it’s fairly easy.

Optical illusion or just plane butchery?

You don’t need all that to build a square frame. It’s basic joinery and can be done with simple tools.

Stanley Bailey No 4 loose handle

Overthinking this, just do as Jacob suggested and no repair will be visible.

Stanley Bailey No 4 loose handle

The nut’s bottoming out on the threaded bar.

Why am I crap at measuring?

The less you measure the more accurate your work will be, use length stops, combination square, full sized drawings, anything other than measuring multiple lengths of the same dimensions individually.

The best saw in the workshop today to buy at the neighborhood store.

When I was starting out we’d have a 20” 10tpi panel saw and a 22” 7/8tpi cross cut. The rip saw was long gone and not readily available in 1984 so never purchased one. I had a few different versions of both panel and cross cut hand saws and were amazing to use when new. The best one I...

    Vertical bike storage?

Front wheel is easier to lift up due to positioning of handlebars, I don’t think it matters if the back wheel’s off the ground or not, however, one benefit of it being off is that it creates a foot space. If you have a look on bicycle sites such as Wiggle, Chain Reaction or Sigma Sports...

    Men Sheds!

That’s where they’re going wrong, the person in charge should be responsible for all machine maintenance, who uses that machine and how it’s used.

    Epoxy Resins

You’re overthinking this, Araldite is more than enough to secure a chisel handle.

    Men Sheds!

I totally agree, however, an experienced driver “should” have the acquired muscle memory and knowledge to tackle a potential accident/hazard better than an inexperienced learner driver as they’ve reached the unconscious/competence stage of driving.

    Men Sheds!

It’s a dangerous practice whoever does it and shouldn’t be done. I’m not making excuses as I dislike the practice however, the ex trade(carpenters/joiners aren’t professionals) would always be safer due to their experience.

    Men Sheds!

The problem with Men Sheds is that it’s full of YouTube taught “experts” and a Health and Safety nightmare. What they usually lack is a person from a trade background to oversee and make sure everything complies to safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for everyone.

    01332 after market riving knife

That’s being responsible and having the correct attitude 👍 Sadly it’s extremely rare given the popularity of American woodworking videos on YouTube.

    01332 after market riving knife

Using a sled is dangerous with or without a riving knife as it usually means removing the crown guard

    01332 after market riving knife

A riving knife is that height for a reason. One incidental reason is to stop inexperienced users from cutting their fingers off using sleds.

Chris Schwarz ripping wood by hand - speed

That’s definitely thinner than an 1” and something that’s not very resinous. You can tell just by the sound it makes when he’s ripping and probably more like 3/4” or less in thickness. Ripping from the bench like he’s doing is not great as it’s too high. Ideally you’d have two saw horses, knee...

    Random Orbit Sander

Before you buy please do some research on its vibration data m/s2. At 7m/s2 the Metabo’s quite high compared to the Makita B06030’s 4 m/s2.
