    New Planer Thicknesser

I read somewhere that delivers was £400, same for you?

    New Planer Thicknesser

Thanks, I did try and register with their website this afternoon so I could get some prices. Wow, what are they hiding to make it so difficult to buy their stuff 🤷‍♂️😂

I've just watched the Hammer A3-31 video and mentioned the exact same thing in my previous reply, I was very impressed with its ease of use. Is it a machine that's up to being used every day or do they market Felder for that?

I like the Sedgwick in general but there are a couple of things I don't like. The dust collection box seems a bit dated with having to hold it down with the bridge guard, plus it needs to be stored somewhere. As the jointer tables don't move out of the way, I'm not sure how accessible...

Currently I'm considering the Sedgwick PT255 and SCM Minimax FS40, where does the Hammer sit with those?

Yes, sometimes more, sometimes less. Our current planer's 37 years old, it works but if anything breaks there'll be no parts available so trying to preempt that while there's some money available.

That explains why I couldn't find any prices, thanks.

It's not a business, more in the lines of an educational establishment with a proprietary budget. It's the main planer and used daily but anything over 10"/12" isn't needed, a four sider would be overkill for our needs.

I can't see anywhere that sells them in the UK?

Thanks, so not quite the equivalent of ten HSS blades per edge they make it out to be. I'm all for this cutter block it's just that I'm worried replacing a set of cutters won't be financially viable in one hit, rather than the drip drip of Tersa or resharpening HSS. Thanks

I'm trying to work out the real world lifespan of each edge on the four sides cutter if used daily, how often would you rotate yours? Thanks

    New Planer Thicknesser

Hi Ollie, is the planer something you use regularly, every day/other day? How many times have you rotated the cutters during that time? Thanks

    Startrite TA175 riving knife alignment

Maybe the washers don't come with blades anymore, it's been a while since I've purchased one. That's a fence I've made to slip over the stock version when ripping MDF.

That was just an example to show what they looked like. All those do in reality is centre the blade as the saw shaft washers' raised edge still clamp against the saw plate and not the reduction washer.

We've got the exact same saw at work, you usually get a set of reducing washers with saw blades, you'll need 30mm outside, 5/8" bore...

    New Planer Thicknesser

Thank you, that's very helpful. I'm just trying to work out if I'd get money to replace a full set of cutters which would be near £200, rather than the disposable Tersa knife block which runs similar to the cost of resharpening HSS which we're currently doing. Judging by what I've read it...

    Startrite TA175 riving knife alignment

Are you sure it's the riving knife that's misaligned and not an extra washer between blade and shaft shoulder?
  18. H

    New Planer Thicknesser

Do you have experience of a spiral cutterblock?
  19. H

    Startrite TA175 riving knife alignment

There are two nuts to hold the riving knife and two to hold the riving knife carrier. If you undo all four you should get the correct adjustment.

Wish you all a Prosperous New Year (in spite of Brexit)

Jeremy Corbyn as PM, 😂😂😁 that's the funniest thing I've read today.
