I have a katsu and it's hard to beat for value, but after using a dewalt trim router in my cnc, I wanna swap to using that for my woodworking too.

Thanks all for the suggestions. The mention of airbrushes made me remember that I have a desktop spray booth with an extractor, that will actually work quite well for spraying finishes in spare room. Going to have a play with some of the suggestions and see which ones I like best.

Interesting I didn't know you could use an airbrush to apply shellac. I have an airbrush that I use for artistic endavours, it's in my hobby room too so temperature isn't really an issue. This is something I need to look into some more, thanks.

I've reccently been lucky enough to upgrade my laser cutter, so I am selling my old one. It's a 20W (output) diode laser, with honeycomb bed, air assist and enclosuer oh and safety glasses of course. Enclosure has a 100mm extraction port so you can easily hook it up to an inline extractor...

I actually have some danish oil but haven't tried it yet. I think I was initially trying to over optimise and look for something that cures in couple of hours hence the shellac and laqcuer. Reality being that 24 hours drying time is fine as long as the application process is fairly quick.

I need to create a batch (10-20) wooden pencil holders, simple open top boxes done on laser cutter. Looking for some advice on an easy and quick to apply finish that has medium durability, potentially going to need to finish a lot of them in one go, hence why I want something quick and easy...

New laser day today woooo, so spent some time doing test cuts to figure out the best kerf setting. Then I realised Boxes.py has a french cleat setting so cut out a small tray to test it. Pretty chuffed with how it came out, going to create some bigger and varied ones tomorrow I think.

Had a go at vcarving my logo and doing an epoxy inlay. Need to find a better method of either doing the inlays so there's less clean up or a better way of removing the over spill, of which there was a lot. Used card scraper to try and remove most it.

This was the issue!! There are two bolts that attach the spindle carridge to the X rail, these were loose causing play. Also noticed that the top bolt for the spindle holder has been stripped, unfortunately sainsmart don't have any replacements in stock, guessing cos they've moved onto a newer...

Yeah one of those, except I've extended it to 600x800 so I imagine this would amplify any flex. Even so I would have thought it would be fine when taking light passes through something soft such as MDF.

File is good, saw issue with logo file so I created a new file in vcarve using the circle tool, path and preview all looked perfect. Interesting idea about the holes, will see if I got some scrap lying around.

Came to try making some coasters and what not and ran into an issue where my cnc isn't cutting round. There are two straight sections on either side of the circle. To me this suggests that there's an issue with the X axis, I've double checked the coupler between the motor and the rail and all...

I use everbuild too, mainly due to the fact you can get it in larger sizes. Didn't realise they stocked it at toolstation this is very convenient, cheers.
