    New band saw advice

@TRITON Hey what did you go for in the end? Currently trying to decide between those two (or maybe the ones below haven't decided yet)? The RP Sabre looks to have a smaller footprint than the Axminster which is a big plus for me.

Axminster 2552 or Record Power BS350

@nosuchhounds what did you go for in the end? I'm currently torn between the two machines, space is very limited so going up a size isn't an option even though the footprint is only slightly bigger. I like the idea of the customer support aspect of the axminister, but the larger capacity and...

    Sold AW1400B BANDSAW - £200!!!! - final price reduction

I did it with a hack saw, it was a pain to do, but well worth the effort, makes changing blades so much esier.

This was very much a no frills build, holder for my Japanese saws, need to find somewhere else to mount it as it takes up a lot of room, but at least give me some storage for them.

    Sold AW1400B BANDSAW - £200!!!! - final price reduction

This is a great little bandsaw, I've used for everything from cutting out templates to resawing small stock, finally made room for a bigger model hence why I'm selling it. Purchased it In November 2022, added some upgrades such as better fence and mitre gauge, comes with a selection of blades...

    Material Suppliers

I mostly get my filaments from Amazon or bambulabs. I've heard good things about 3d jake but not tried them myself yet.

Latest thing you have printed / machined / cut

I love the laser cutter for creating quick storage solutions, the name plates are a nice touch with how you've incorporated them into the design. The last photo makes it looks like a lumber yard for lego figures ha.

Not sure this classes as a thing I made but found it super useful so thought I'd share. Saw someone suggest an exercise where you draw a bunch of vertical lines on a board and just practice cutting straight down them. This gave me a great chance to test out a couple of saws and really get to...

    Material Suppliers

I thought it may be useful if we colate a list of places where people get their supplies for laser cutting and or cnc'ing. These are the ones I've saved so far: Hobarts - My favourite Kitronik - Second favourite LaserPly 908 Trotec Sketch Laser Cutting

I love the penguin, would you mind sharing some details about material thickness, laser wattage and speeds. I've only really cut plywood on mine, not tried any hardwoods yet.

Dewalt Palm router D26200 bargain B&Q

Saw this video and thought it might be of interest to some. Considering picking one up myself, at the moment I manually turn the router on and off.

There's something really satisfying about 3d printing guides/jigs to then use with hand tools.

Latest thing you have printed / machined / cut

Been trying some hand cut joinery lately so decided to print some dovetail guides. First one is a 1:6 which I highlighted the markings with a posca pen, then I realised I had a multi colour printer so for the 1:8 I used white filament for the icons. Was it worth the extra printing time...

Wanted to get some more experience hand cutting joinery so made a small box (no surprise there) using box/finger joints. Turned out orite, I accidentally flipped one of the boards the wrong way so had to cut some small bits to fill the gaps. Used a 4mm brass rod for a hinge. Used a plough plane...

I didn't do anything special think I got lucky maybe. Used Odies oil as a finish dunno if that helps. I've heard tips of leaving the purple heart out in the sun to bring back the colour or even going as far as baking it in the oven.

    Dust Extractor for small shop

Made a discovery, if I nudge my workbenches about 20mm more away from the wall that will give me 400mm of gap which means I could fit a unit like this in: Axminster Workshop AW82E Dust Extractor - 230V. Currently all that's there is some xps foam I used when cutting large sheets on the floor...
