    No Fault Evictions

That'll only lead to more creative avoidance schemes, and HMRC is a shadow of it's former self so chasing those schemes is a non starter. More rights for tenants should be balanced by a more streamlined approach to removing those who break the terms of the tenancy. It is a legal contract...

    Joke Thread 4 (closed).

    A comedy great dies.

Sad news, brilliant comedian. 94 is some age, guess laughter is the best medicine after all.

Change of career - what too.

It might be easier to start a window cleaning round, people notice if you don't cut their lawn every week but a week either way on a monthly window round isn't so noticeable. Given how wet our summers can be it's a thing to consider. Also needs less kit

Thought this was going to be a royal thread for a moment

Change of career - what too.

Very sorry to hear this James, seeing all the positive things you do for people I wonder if that is your way forward? Not sure if your circumstances would allow the flexibility to work for yourself but there is often a living to be made in all the small DIY jobs people can't do for themselves...

    TRV adaptors, any ideas?

The black tape was what they were calling an adapter. The nut came free as I tried to screw the TRV on. Suffice to say I'll be asking for a refund

    TRV adaptors, any ideas?

Will be fitting a test one tomorrow but not hopeful as the 'adapter' is a thin plastic sleeve inside the M30 nut with very little thread depth

    Statins and statistics

A few months ago I was prescribed simvastatin as I'm mid 50s, cholesterol going up slightly over the last couple of years, and a family history of high cholesterol but no heart disease. Within three weeks I was unable to stand up out of bed without holding something and shoulders were too sore...

    Help with a bandsaw

They are usually pretty tight and that's where the puller comes in. A bit of heat can help to move a stuck bearing, but be careful not to burn yourself if you put the puller on after heating it (BTDT)

He thinks this is a caravan…

It'd be an interesting one to put before a court certainly. On one hand he has proven it can fulfil the requirements of a caravan under the legal definition, but is that enough? I think the 'reasonable man in the street' would look at it and say it's a shed. Personally I'm with the council on...

    Help with a bandsaw

I get where Deema is coming from but I suspect the axle (75) on yours is held in be a machined step and nut (87) so will probably have to be pulled off the front. Have a look at post #24 in the recommended thread and compare it to your machine. If there's no bolt and washer pulling the axle...

He thinks this is a caravan…

According to this it looks like he's proved his case: https://caravanplanning.co.uk/the-act/ Learned something new today, legally a caravan doesn't have to have wheels

He thinks this is a caravan…

Totally agree, and the guy in that video has taken the proverbial for years. The post was more for the point that councils will pursue a breach of regs to it's conclusion even if it takes a decade or so

    Help with a bandsaw

Exploded diagram here: https://www.mtmc.co.uk/Metabo-BAS-260-SWIFT-/-0090025100-10-/-EU-230V-Spare-Parts__p-166722.aspx Doesn't look like there is any other fixing so I'd suggest going gently with a 3 leg puller

    House Buying - Advice?

No, I'd always want some money in hand because there's going to be things you'll want to do to the house, or things you'll have to do

Is this the right tool for the job?

Good excuse to get a metal lathe. You'll wonder how you did without one

    TRV adaptors, any ideas?

Hadn't seen those, I will check those as a possibility, thanks
