If I can find some in those sizes would scotch eye type be any use?

Mystery trigger operated shears / scissors .......

Probably from a gentleman's club, for removing the ties of disgraced members 😉

Mystery trigger operated shears / scissors .......

Weren't scissors usually the province of cutler's? In which case it might be worth trying the Sheffield industrial museums trust, who apparently hold a list of registered trademarks. Another possibility might be the worshipful company of Cutlers

    Trailer suspension.

I used Aspock lights when I refurbished my trailer, from Western towing in this instance. You'd need a board to mount them on but the loom is pre wired and plugs into the back of the light, just buy the length to suit your trailer. Caravan chassis could be a good call. A few years back I broke...

Very micro hydro - how to

In this situation it sounds like a simple ram pump lifting the water to a storage tank that then feeds a pelton wheel should do the trick. Think that's the setup **** Strawbridge built. There used to be a system like that at the CAT in North Wales, perhaps they would be able to offer some advice

    Faceplate for axminster m900

Others will know more about this but I think it will be hard to get a longer 'stem' on a faceplate as a short stem reduces the load that an out of balance piece puts on the headstock bearings compared to being further out. I had a similar problem fitting a Longworth chuck on a Jet lathe and...

    Advice sought - repairing Axe

Definitely hardwood, would not recommend oak as the tannins can cause rust in the eye. Don't wet it for the same reason. If you have an old, hand forged axe that rust can cause the back of the head to split. I was always taught to use wooden wedges in case you ever have to drill the wood out of...

    Advice sought - repairing Axe

Cut a new wedge wider than the existing one. Make two saw cuts in the handle at right angles to the existing wedge slot spaced just over a third of its length apart. Make sure the head is well seated and drive in your wider wedge. Use a narrow chisel to open a slot in the wedge in line with each...

    Misheard lyrics

Peter Kay did a brilliant sketch on these and it reminded me of a mate who used to belt out 'it's alright, babies come in bags' to the Eurythmics. Just wondering what other gems are out there?
