    Rapier 500

For what it's worth my first no4 was a rapier, £2 from a junk shop. It works but it's heavy and rather 'sticky'. The Stanley no4 I inherited a while back just feels right and works beautifully compared to the rapier.

    Help with chuck choice please.

You'll pay about that for the Record SC4 in the same configuration. It's a perfectly good chuck but you can't get the carriers for other makers jaws to fit it

    Oversized exterior plywood sheets availability?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dutch-Danish-Trolley-Shelves-/203640281202?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 I reckon 3 of these will still be cheaper than phenolic ply. Just noticed where you are, carriage may be excessive ☹️

    Oh dear

Mike, if you are likely to have access to more timber then I would really consider the Hyundai saw with a cheap mill frame from an auction site. My set up cost little more than £200 and I use any straight board screwed to the log to get a first cut. All I need now is more timber 😄

Don't worry too much about humour disappearing, I grew up with the likes of Ben Elton and Hale and Pace (anyone remember them now?) on TV. Enjoyed Terry Wogan on the radio, found Monty Python, Tony Hancock, Round the Horn etc. from there. My 11 year old daughter finds some of it very funny...

    Ancient Stihl chainsaw

Bought one of those Hyundai saws to use in a chainsaw mill and have been very pleased. Thought I'd bought a dud at first as it would bog down in the cut but found the fuel pipe was twisted so the weight of the filter cut the fuel off when the saw was turned on it's side. If you do buy one of...

    Ancient Stihl chainsaw

+1 for a quick clean up and gap set, if you still don't get a spark try Garden and Hire Spares online, they have a good range of replacement Stihl bits

How to use this old wire fence tensioner? All the gear and no idea!

Black & Decker Workmate - Do you?

Really useful to have, picked my current one up from the local tip, excellent condition and cost me a fiver. If I remember correctly they were weight rated so you could use them as a hop-up if needed, may not pass H&S risk assessment now though
