    Office chair gas cylinder....

Try SGS engineering in Derby, they may be able to re-gas your old one

    Bowl turning

I can't help thinking it'd be easier to turn a bowl then mask off the rings and stain them individually

Squirrels. Love ‘em or hate ‘em?

Just imagine the job ad! Does a Tufty hand puppet class as uniform for tax purposes? Sorry, forgot my dried frog pill this morning

    Bowling ball turning idea

Sounds good, I'd be lazy and rout the shape of a suitable bottle in each half. The rest of the bowl could make a good router plane, can't remember who on here made one but it looked great

    Joke Thread II

Wondered how some of those legends came about 😄

    Patio sealer

Maybe a difference in terminology then, what I meant by pressed slabs are those horrible thin things that are sold by DIY sheds and have the tensile strength of a wet Weetabix, as opposed to a more substantial offering from say Bradstone or Marshalls, often cast in moulds from original stone paving

Squirrels. Love ‘em or hate ‘em?

That's why I can't stand magpies, we had a pair nest nearby a couple of years ago and they'd bounce along the hedge tops, stopping every so often, cocking their heads to listen for chicks in the hedge. When they found a blackbirds nest they systematically emptied it, in spite of the adult...

    Patio sealer

Hopefully you've got decent cast slabs not pressed, in which case there's no need for sealer

Squirrels. Love ‘em or hate ‘em?

We have started getting starlings this year, for the first time in 10 years here. As with most birds they seem to have a time of day that they arrive as they move around their 'patch' so if they get too much of a problem we may have to wait til after they've gone to fill up the feeders. Does...

    Washing drum fire pit?

I'd be tempted to put the drive wheel back on in reverse to form the stand, or do what we did and just stand it on an old wheel rim then the spindle doesn't matter

    Construction techniques for van cabinetry

Might be worth putting a wanted post on Freecycle/freegle/trash nothing and see what's about. Reckon you might find a few campervan selfbuilders round Glastonbury with spare stuff

The only kind of snipe you want on a woodworking thread ;)

    Hollow and Round sole forming

Couldn't you drill a hole of the right circumference in a piece of plate, then cut it in half to use as a profile scraper? Ink up a straightedge and rub it on the profile to show up any high spots as you go. No idea if it'd work, just thinking on a keypad

    Construction techniques for van cabinetry

I'll try to dig out some photos of the one we had, it was quite a clever use of space as it had a smev combined hob and sink, two cupboards and a space for a small loo, all cut to fit with a couple of mm all round. If I was fitting one Id be tempted to make it freestanding and attached to the...

    Construction techniques for van cabinetry

If they haven't got one already then fit a low coolant alarm. Those bongo's are a pain for cooking the heads and a right pain to bleed the air out of. Check out the bongo fury forum for some ideas on conversions. Magnum motorhomes website has some useful info for self builds. There's a place in...

    Lights in a bottle

It is fairly easy to drill into a bottle with either a glass drill or a small diamond core bit. You could come up through the base then make a small wooden plinth to hide the cable. A small bulb on its own might look a bit odd though

    Twisted

Droogs, there's a book by David Bryant on making spinning wheels with full plans for about 5 different styles, along with carders and looms. ISBN 0713448288. Well worth a look although Sawtooth's design looks more streamlined and less 'fussy' than the ones in that book

    Twisted

Wow, building a wheel is one of those things on the to-do list, and that looks an excellent design. I've only ever used a scotch tension wheel so far so it would be interesting to try a double drive and see what the difference is
