    The moon

I read something a few years back that they were looking to extract precious metals and so on and were preparing to declare it US property. Not sure what the rest of the world will make of that. Unfortunately I don't recall the source so feel free to make of it what you will

    Outhouse Project

Depending how much space you've got behind that board and what uPVC profile has been used it may be possible to fit a pole of the type used for a bay window. You'd have to get the units out of your existing window, remove the fittings, fix the pole to the brickwork, then refix the window before...

    Such a nice day outside

Good excuse to get a plasma cutter?

Should I fancy a fancy wood burner for work and play?

Looks like you could build your own from a couple of abandoned tumble dryer drums, then you can use the doors as shed windows and pretend it's a Wellington bomber Too much heat, sorry

    Axminster Bandsaw AWEFSBB

    Harvest Moon

Harvest moon and the peak of the Perseids, might sit out with a glass of something cold tonight. Always know when it's a full moon, cats go totally nuts whether they can see it or not. Mind you there's quite a few people like that!

How to get stubborn bearings off bandsaw guide posts?

Heading off topic again, sorry. As another obese would be cyclist I saw these padded boxers, might take a punt at that price. Nobody should have to see me in lycra :eek::eek...

    Axminster Bandsaw AWEFSBB

Watched one a couple of months ago on eBay, as I have the same model, and it went for £450 on auction. Surprised yours hasn't sold at that price. Tried persuading my neighbour he needs to buy yours, Mock, but it's a bit too far unfortunately

    motor problem

Just for the sake of curiosity, seeing as there are people here who know infinitely more than I ever will, would a soft start make this possible and is it possible to retrofit one to a motor?

    motor problem

What bar length has it got? I bought a Hyundai chainsaw and a generic mill from eBay for less than £300, allows easy working away from power supplies

    motor problem

That sounds like inrush current, if the motor is rated 19.7 amps I think that's about 4.4kw, and it'll need more than that to overcome the start up inertia, so probably well above the 5.5kv available. I'm no electrician so hopefully someone who can suggest a solution will be along soon

    Potje Firebasket? Drilling cast iron?

Is there a baffle in the main chimney? What I suspect is happening is that once the chimney gets hot it is drawing too fast and sucking the heat out quicker than it is produced

    Why do we do it

Making something work again, Repurposing something that was otherwise obsolete, Being able to fix something that is important to someone, Mostly cos I grew up when the Wombles were on telly

2x electric leaf blowers/vacuums both not working. Anything obvious to check?

Do you have a multimeter that can check continuity? If so I'd check the cable from plug to switch, then switch, then switch to motor both sides. Obviously do this with the machine unplugged. They aren't really worth spending much time on so I'd go with a mortar rake and vacuum to clear out the...

    Potje Firebasket? Drilling cast iron?

If you have looked at hobo stoves and enjoy tinkering, why not take it another step? Then you can use the potje on top https://www.instructables.com/rocket-stove-2-3/

Wanted Veritas (or any other reliable) Dowel Maker 1/2“ - 5/8“ or 12 mm to 16 mm dia range.

Adam, do you freehand them or use a holding jig of some sort? Used a shave horse and draw knife for big ones for timber framing but never made any small ones

    Heatwave

Absolutely, out of season flooding, higher winds, powerful storms. Things that were recorded perhaps once a century are now once a decade. Energy that took millennia to store has been released over a couple of centuries. How can that not have an effect? Climate is driven by complex interactions...

    Heatwave

Burning fossil fuels is only one source, intensive farming since WW2 has released massive amounts of co² (not to mention methane), along with mass destruction, by burning, of rainforests for cheap soya, beef and palm oil. The 'green revolution' in Africa led to more pollution as western style...

Where have all the bees gone?

Saw a lot of bumblebees earlier this year, thankfully no hornets as yet

    Lathe Tool Storage Rack

I have an Axminster magnetic rack and 2 cheapies from Lidl one above the other. The axi one copes with the skews, scrapers and spindle gouges, while the doubled up Lidl ones do the bigger bowl gouges simply because they only have a very small contact area relative to the weight so they slide off...
