    Replacement sofa seat foam?

Any duckponds nearby? Some upholstery companies will loan you sample cushions of different foam to try out, they do vary a lot. I was told by one local supplier that most foams are melamine based and start out pretty firm, as they get use they soften to what you want so don't go too soft to...

    Remote control cars?

Remember watching RC car racing at the Three Counties Showground some years back and Tamiya seemed the most popular. Kids from 8 to 80 having a go and toolkits that wouldn't look out of place in an F1 workshop

    if you could....

Travelled through the Normandy cemeteries in the 80s with my stepfather, who was crew of a D day landing craft, the only time he ever spoke of that experience and it has stayed with me. Amazing and terrifying in equal measure

Let's discuss furniture design and fine work

Interesting to see what happens when you ask for a redesign of such a well known item: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/gallery/2011/sep/14/shortlist-designs-electricity-pylons-in-pictures

Thicknesser is blowing fuses - help please!

If you can find a way of safely spinning the block whilst the machine is humming, if the motor can then keep it spinning it's most likely the start capacitor.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Thank you for those kind words Lefley. I've not had much time for turning this year but have been watching Steve Jones (woodturner21 on YouTube) recently and was inspired to break out the skew chisel

    Crazy humidity today

Condensation on the outside of the door glass as I went to lock up last night about 10. That's a first here, and a sticking door this morning, normally only sticks when the sun gets on it but no danger of that today

    Hydro power from small river?

If your land allows for enough drop you could look at a hydraulic ram pump to lift water to a header tank then pipe it back down through a pelton wheel turbine. The Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales has a good example of this

    Domestic Generator

This came up in conversation recently, someone who wanted a backup for a fridge and freezer. Would 10x continuous rating work in that instance? I suppose if the combined continuous rating is 250w you'd need 2.5kw in case they both start simultaneously, or have I missed something?

    Wadkin RS tool rests

Can you weld or know someone who can? I've seen some made up from angle iron with an hss rod welded along for the tools to rest on if you only need a simple tool rest

Cabinet fronts for vans - best method?

Terry makes a good point there, a lot of commercially built campervans only allow about 150kg of user payload before you go over the plated limit. I don't know if you are planning to put in insulation, electrics, rock and roll bed, water heating, night heater etc but it'd be easy to go over
