Work so hard you cripple yourself

Personally I think a universal wage, tied to activity providing a social good or ongoing training/education, and tapered according to earnings would be a great idea. How to fund it is a whole other argument though

Work so hard you cripple yourself

This article reminds me of the old phrase 'beatings will continue until morale improves' How long until warehouse work is fully automated though? I gather 'dark warehouses' are springing up all over Europe.

    Moss

Look out for product containing DDAC, although not listed as mosskiller it does kill moss as well as algae and lichen. I use it twice a year at work on tarmac and hard paving. You might have to sweep off the dead moss the first time if it's bad, but from then on it'll just weather away Sapphire...

    Considering selling up

How much stuff do you need to keep for your next lathe? That may determine your best way forward. Think the vacuum chuck and pump could make a good bundle if you don't need it in future, then probably just the lathe itself, and hollowing tools as separates

    Losing a pet

They are part of the family, we grieve for them just the same. Hurts like h*ll. Don't be too hard on yourself

    Thoughts on this furniture repair

A set of wax modelling tools like this is handy https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/362888161450?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=vIRMQk85RKm&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=_XwgzqajSc-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

    Brace style chucks

Think it might be possible to adapt a breast drill to fit, either directly by modifying the handle, or by attaching a collar to the drill casing

Thanks for the heads-up, saw an article on this a month or so back and thought it was worth looking out for.

Bosch POF 1200 AE stiff plunge clamp release knob

Just had a look at a couple of videos of this thing and they seemed to struggle with getting a smooth release and plunge too. Most routers I've used (admittedly not that many) just push down to plunge, with the lever left alone unless you want to lock the depth so it strikes me as an odd design

What to add to my turning tool collection?

That style wouldn't be out of place on some older tools, but given the similarity I thought it was worth mentioning. Hopefully they are handmade from something decent, if you get into David Springett's stuff they will come in useful

What to add to my turning tool collection?

Those two unhandled scrapers have what look suspiciously like file tangs on them. Be careful you don't have repurposed files amongst the handled ones. Files were often ground down for turning tools but are usually too brittle. Definitely don't want one shattering on you

OK to use 2MT sleeve on 1MT?

No particular reason not to, but they do add to the overhang if you are short on bed length. Bought some when I upgraded my lathe 10 years ago and still use them on mt1 things I don't use enough to spend out on replacing

    What is this thing?

If you have no luck with greenmachines it might be worth emailing SGS engineering with a pic and description. They have been very helpful in the past when I've been looking for an odd spring or strut
