they have a thick rubber gasket on the bottom which I reckon would compress 10mm with the clip on, but I would be a bit nervous about squashing it 20mm.

Are you sure it’s 480mm? (Most popular sizes are 500mm)

Remember the originals had a small 20mm bore from memory with a drive pin

We sold loads of the original 301s made in Gillingham and I don’t mean to sound negative but….The guides on the Startrite 301 weren’t that good, the table on the early ones was pressed steel, (not cast). Check the band wheel condition too: they were vulcanised onto a pressed steel blank too, so...

we sold these for a while but they were too expensive for the target market, bin capacity was too small… but a very nice design (red dot award)
