    Keir Starmer

This sums it up perfectly for me, but who can change the system for the better? "The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to...

    Orbital sander

+1 for the metabo and abranet disks, but get yourself a backing pad too.

Is there a definitive pillar drill - new or used - that is better than the Bosch PBD40 for the same money?

I agree, I bought one last year and think it was just under £200. I've been very happy with it.

    Joke Thread 5

You've just described my childhood, loved the building sites (adventure playground of the 60s). Most of us survived unscathed and the ones who didn't, natural selection in action.

    Five favourite quotes.

Our take on that one was "promoted out of harms way" or "promoted to a level where they can't do any damage". I'm sure we've all had some of those.

    Nearly got scammed

In my experience most EVRI orders are a failed delivery 😂😂

    TV advertising quality!

I know it's not part of the thread discussion but if you have Amazon delivery to a pick up point you can get free delivery without a minimum order value. I'm lucky that my local post office is one, so use it regularly which is a win for us both.

    Can't see my (Vauxhall) Nova.

    Winter fuel Payments.

The WFP is per property, rather than 2 people getting the full amount. I reached pension age before my wife so I received the full £200 for a couple of years but when she reached pension age we both received £100 each instead. Whether we needed it or not of course is a whole different conversation.

Bosch GCM 12 axial glide Mitre saw

I just use wide masking tape to get a zero clearance insert and replace as necessary after bevel cuts or wear and tear. Cheap and cheerful, works great for me! Still use a dummy fence though as tape ceases to work once you make the first cut ;-).

    Axminister wood screws

Good spot, I hadn't picked up on the free delivery, thanks!

    Passwords

All good advice but your last statement is incorrect in that the LPA dies with the person and then only the executor of the will can deal with financial transactions DAMHIK :-(

    Multitool advice

I have the green Bosch one I bought in 2012 to help with a house renovation and found it so useful I thought I'd replace it with something better when it dies. Unfortunately it's still going strong, very noisy and vibrates like **** but still gets regular use for all the things it's the best...

My wife's died. Well, according to Inland Revenue....

That works both ways though. Last year I informed HMRC that my mum had died and received the standard condolences letter and a refund cheque (in separate envelopes) in less than a week 💰

Oscillating Sanding Machines, Belt and Bobbin Type Any Good?

Bisch Basch Bosch YouTube channel has just done a review video and follow on "improvement" video to the Scheppach version of that. It could be worth a watch to help your decision.

Just to stir the pot, has anyone noticed...

What? exactly the same as you're missing my point because it doesn't suit your narrative! Hypocrisy much! Scale and demographic both come into play here and just because something works in your relatively parochial area doesn't mean it will work elsewhere. As for your comments regarding Jacob...

Just to stir the pot, has anyone noticed...

I can't be @rsed arguing with you but my point is still that it's easier to organise virtually anything with fewer people involved.

Just to stir the pot, has anyone noticed...

Like everyone you decry, you're not comparing like for like. Northumbria NHS Trust serves half a million people spread over a couple of not particularly big hospitals, a few cottage hospitals and medical centres. Hardly a huge trust, not even comparable to the adjacent Newcastle NHS trust. In...

Why can't I buy z-clips or Figure 8 Fasteners in Ireland?!?

That's strange, I've just looked now and it says they have 11 in stock, perhaps it's because you're in Ireland? I've had no issues with them, they are fairly robust so are working fine for me. Good luck with your search.

Why can't I buy z-clips or Figure 8 Fasteners in Ireland?!?

I used some of these for a couple of coffee tables. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HNR6K3Y/?coliid=I26SRLEHJ0OIBW&colid=HN5SWBD2MZ0P&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it_im
