I have a productive weekend. Alongside doing the garden with (for) SWIMBO, I built a very sturdy stand for my little CCSL lathe. I made it entirely from old construction timber off cuts. The only thing I paid for were the 24 M10 coach screws that hold it all together. I was ripped off for them...

I use a CMT collet extension in my table. About £30 from Screwfix.

Perhaps we should start a 'freecycle' section on the forum???

I finished the job and it I'd now like new! I'll happily share any tips. I bought a small 2/3 leg gear puller from screwfix which made light work of removing the bearings. Bottom one was more tricky. I used a couple of small pieces of tube to tap the new ones in. Good luck. Steve

Tony Iles recommended to me regular dipping in water after every 'wipe' on the wheel. It will not damage it unless it is already too hot.

+1 to viakal. It is especially for limescale and works very well.

I see the record woodfast maxi 2 is on special at the mo and wonder how the Killinger measures up against it. The maxi 2 is £1800.

Just got back from the show at Daventry. Excellent! Phil Irons has brought one of his new Killinger lathes which is being used for Gary Rance's demo. I want one!!
