Inca Euro 205 Bandsaw photos added

Hi Bob Welcome to the forum. I think our machines are virtually twins. I think you should do what I did and strip it right down and put it back together. I seem to have sorted out the tracking problem by patiently tinkering with it. You can move the bottom wheel either closer to the motor...

Peeling paint is driving me mad!

Not only have I not tried it, I've never come across aluminium primer! I will add it to my shopping list :)

Peeling paint is driving me mad!

All this advice is very helpful, not least Blister's uPVC suggestion. However, SWMBO is more interested in aesthetics and this old studded door is a 'feature'!! The suggestion of speaking to ICI is something I'll try anyway - a good tip. I used the stuff Studders was suggesting - I thought...

Peeling paint is driving me mad!

This is probably about wood rather than decorating, but if anyone knows about exterior decorating, I could do with some advice. Some years ago we had a very old exposed exterior door stripped (by cold dipping). It was cleaned up, thoroughly washed off and danish oiled (not by me!). It is one...

    a VERY close shave !!

To add to the good points above, I always start the lathe (when I have chucked a new work piece) standing behind the headstock to ensure that if it comes off the lathe I won't get hit.

There's another one on ebay! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 632wt_1106 It may be better looked after than mine as well :D and another here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/INCA-BANDSAW- ... 500wt_1121

The tracking is way out, but that seems to be it. I can't seem to get the blade to run in the middle of both the top and bottom wheels and I seem to have run out of adjustment. I am wondering whether to pull out the bottom wheel a few millimetres as it is right in against the motor as far as...

    Hmmm, a little miffed!

No the honey monster is definitely real

    Hmmm, a little miffed!

Roger - I'd be livid. This is a trading standards/ advertising standards issue, isn't it? There's a deliberate misleading inference that the doors he made are the ones in the picture. This is clearly a misleading advert. Not sure you have any claim against Felder, but (IMHO) they should be...

Corn on the cob pen turning?

That's a nice looking pen John. I'm interested to hear they don't sell well. I would have thought they would, if nothing else because it is so interesting to have a writing implement made from recycled edibles. I may end up scrapping this project and feeding the other blank to the dog :D

Corn on the cob pen turning?

Has anyone turned corn cobs? I had my first setback this evening, when I found the dog had eaten one of the 'blanks' I'd been drying out. (I suspect it will go right through him!) How hard do they get? Mine were woody, but still soft enough for the dog to eat (hammer). I had mine next to the...

    Oak boards cupping and splitting

Have you thought of Sapele? - it seems relatively stable in the weather. I've not had much to do with Idigbo, but it is a lighter coloured hardwood - perhaps an acceptable oak substitute.

Update on Bench Build - so, so close to the end

If you'll forgive me for paraphrasing Crocodile Dundee: That's not workbench - THIS is a workbench!! What an inspiration to us mere beginners! Thanks for sharing it.

Now why couldn't I find this thread when I was agonising about whether I should buy it! I've given it a real going over and apart from everything being coated with hard packed sawdust it is top notch :D

Which cheap mitre saw - £150?

I have one of these. They are super quality.

    Oak boards cupping and splitting

Everything Andy says. My 2p worth. Unless it's quarter sawn it will always move. Maybe finishing with Yacht Varnish would help, but it never ceases to amaze me what a bit of weather can do to timber - especially oak. Is another answer to deal with the cupping) that 1" thick is simply too...

Inca Euro 205 Bandsaw photos added

That's very interesting information, Gerald. The motor in mine is the AB Loher (which is now part of Siemens) and it seems very well made, especially when compared to some of the Chinese motors in some of my other machines. I removed the blade and gave the bandsaw a good inside and outside...

    Chip/dust extractor advice

I don't want to hi-jack this interesting thread, but what would you recommend for a single vac extractor to do the whole 9 yards in a small (12' x 8' workshop)? I mean by this, collect fine dust particulates and also have the oomph to give good suction when connected to a small band saw, a...

Inca Euro 205 Bandsaw photos added

I have had a good day's shopping today and picked up my new baby bandsaw, a 1998 French made Inca Euro 205 bandsaw, which I saw working. Does anyone else have one? It set me back (just?) £50 with some spare blades. I think I'll be shelling out for a new 'main' blade for this. I don't really...
