    Aluminium sash clamps

Anyone had any experience of those ones where you buy the cast iron ends and fit them to a bit of tube? conduit would be flimsey but gas barrel would be okay if it fits,,,the Americans seem to use them all the time and you can buy them on ebay very cheaply,,,maybe they are rubbish? I had a pair...

    Sawdust...

Or you could combine both the “cat litter”and the “spread it on the garden” ideas and turn your garden into a more attractive cats toilet than it is already,,,I wouldn't encourage them!

    Trailer wheels/tyres

I bought some trailer parts inc a pair of wheels and trailer tyres from a trailer place down the west country, (I can look it up if you need) and they were cheaper than just trailer tyres ordered from tyre fitting places or local trailer shops. Fast service, friendly and helpful and good quality...

    private charge notice

I wish someone would invent a gadget that started to beep if you started to exceed the speed limit, perhaps sat nav technology controlled for changing limits, that way you could concentrate on your driving. Although Ive not been on one, people I know who have gone on the police speed awareness...

    Ful-Use vice?

So the flat part bolted down to the bench is perhaps an anvil? And jaws have both been beefed up but I cannot visualise the cut outs making it any easier to cut anything,,, maybe it would, but it has provision for wooden jaw plates which wouldn't take too kindly to bolts and the like? But its an...

    Ful-Use vice?

Isnt it a strange arrangement,,with it all bolted on the surface and the rails and screw in your way and getting covered in crap,,and the two round notches,,its very difficult to even guess at the idea behind it,,,I dont suppose its a special type tool with a particular application,,and because...

White mould on stored oak planks

Im not really the best person to ask, oak just weathers outside and becomes grey, the wood has lots of quite powerful tannins in it and just speaking personally I would of course clean off the mould, using a bit of bleach and then as its going to be outside cladding just use it, again its just...

    Moss on roof

However as your now talking about Felt we have a felted roof on my shed and on its east faceing side there is quite thick moss, it looks great and the birds do seem to like it but I did wonder if it might be eating into the mineral felt, is it likly to be damaging it? Steve.

White mould on stored oak planks

If its going to be used for exterier cladding than I think I would give it a good scrub with bleach and hope that being outside in the air would prevent its return,,,I think, and I might be wrong, but nearly all mould thrives on damp still air, the mould you've got looks like the stuff Ive seen...

    Securing your workshop

Many thanks everyone for your input, its all very good practicle stuff, but I didnt know it was being posted, I wonder why it doesnt apear in the daily digest? As to my little alarm, well Im constantly impressed by it, the range of the remote controls is at least 40yds, no false alarms so far...

    Securing your workshop

Oh dear, well the last few posts make for dreadful reading thats for sure and I wouldnt wish to contradict anything thats been said,,the police have however said just a few days ago that whilst there are lots of social media reports of dogs being stolen its seemingly not backed up by reports...

    Anybody made any clocks?

The ones ive come across have the “movement” sitting inside a tin case, and this case has 3 little friction tabs punched in it around the edges, you push the case/ movement in as one and the little tabs being a bit springy hold it in place, the back is open so that you can access the hand...

    Securing your workshop

Well only the front gate that cannot be locked, and my concerns have been heightened because we have a lane running along the side of our garden, the undergrowth, brambles and the like took a bashing in the gales a couple of months back and a lot of it has had to be cleared, so people walking by...

    Securing your workshop

Quite right Roy, my situation is that my shed is round in the garden, and nothing to stop theives walking around the back on grass, we have a little terrier and she has 24hrs access to the garden through a “cat flap” and any noise would have her out there barking, and thats the best we can hope...

    Securing your workshop

For anyone with wireless alarms thats got to be worth checking out, perhaps a factor might be the base station location,,I guess they do have one? It might even be worth seeing if the base station could be moved to bring it in range of the shed as well. Certainly in our area social media is...

    Securing your workshop

Ive fitted the Winomo motorcycle alarm and its very good indeed, I had to make a bracket to hold it to the door frame, and at the moment its running off the PP9 battery but I have an unused Bell Transformer which I will wire it to. Its mounted on the inside of the frame which is made of 2x3 and...

    Pocket jig opinions

The cheaper Trend Jig is a nice bit of kit but, and for me its a big but, it does not have adjustable towers. This means that its perfectly pre set to use 30mm screws on material around 15 to 20mm, Trend says that is for 15 to 38mm but to my mind your not going to get a very strong joint, esp as...
