    Gaming

Good call I only discovered Mass Effect when 2 was released. Awesome game. So was 3, even if the ending(s) were atrocious. Never played Andromeda. Dragon Age Origins and Inquisition were damn good too, second game was terrible. Just checked my Destiny 2 stats on my Xbox, time played 55 days...

    Alternative to micro mesh

Thanks for the replies. Ive read about farecela a while ago on a US pen turning site but the thread was about 6 years old, I'll have a look to see if its still available. On my next Axminster order, I was considering including a mop mandrel, some mops and compounds for other projects so that...

    Alternative to micro mesh

Can anyone suggest a dry alternative for micro mesh for polishing acrylics? Over the last 6-8 months, I've made a fair few pens and a lot of tree ornaments (100+ so far) so I've got a bit of experience with micro mesh. If there's no other alternative, fair enough but I'd rather not use water if...

    Headstock Spindle Adaptors

Thank you for the replies, much appreciated. I've ordered the RP adaptor I linked to. No doubt, I'll be buying another chuck in the future (probably a SC4 as all my jaws are from RP) with a m33 thread to avoid the situations Paul mentioned.

    Gaming

The whole situation with CD Projekt holding back console review copies, or issuing embargoes was a warning sign. Even though, they replied pre release on twitter that it ran 'surprisingly well' on last gen consoles. The following 'apologies' (whilst basically blaming the testing team) have...

    DIY Cam Clamp pivot question

I've made a few of these and, like you, had varying success. I think the most important aspect is the shape of the cam in regards to the position of the hole. There needs to a gradual and progressive increase in pressure as you rotate the lever. Too big a jump in pressure and the cramp would...

    Headstock Spindle Adaptors

Having never used one, is there any issues with using one of these Record Power Thread Adaptor (M33 x 3.5mm Female to 1" x 8 TPI Male) - Biven Machinery Sales until I get a different chuck? I currently only have 1 chuck, a Record Power SC3 with a 1" x 8 tpi thread and I'd like to use it on a...

    Wooden screw threads.

As mentioned, impressive work. And the lathe looks really interesting. If Niki was still here, he'd be impressed.

    For Sale Axminster AC240WL Lathe

I do still have the tailstock. A big chunk of the corner has broken off, I still have the piece if its any use. Ill take a picture when I get home and upload it so you can have a look. I think it locks ok but I've never used it with the tailstock in its current state so couldn't say for certain.

    For Sale Axminster AC240WL Lathe

Axminster Craft series Lathe. AC240WL Most important thing to mention, there is NO tailstock. This lathe was mainly used at my day job workshop as a disc sander or for small chuck mounted work, the tailstock casting ended up getting damaged in storage. Whether a replacement can be obtained or a...

    Bandsaw Blades

I've only used blades from Tuff Saws, Record Power and Axminster. Not that it matters (imo) but I've had 2 blades snap, 1 was Tuff Saws and the other was RP. Both at the weld, and I'd admit that was probably due to me not tensioning it correctly on my small home workshop Bandsaw. I've never had...

    Identity of this?

As mentioned, it’s a drill powered groover. I found a similar (different make) one in my grandads garage a long time ago. I didn’t dare try it, the idea of it is terrifying. Edit: noticed Andy T’s post. That’s a logical idea. Not sure if yours is the same, but the blade on mine didn’t look...

    Glue and heat

Most of the peels I’ve seen made online, they’ve used pva (titebond normally) Few users here have used pva without problems. https://sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php ... Pizza-Peel Due to the minimal time it’ll be in the oven, I would have thought pva would be ok but I’d do a test with some...
