    Hinges in mdf

How about cutting down some "bedding screws"? Bolts with a steel cross-dowel to screw into? File the bolt-heads flat, or substitute countersunk machine screws

    Any Snap-on experts on here

I'm only a "Snap-On expert" to the extent of knowing not to buy them. Over-chromed; over-priced; not the best - Stahlwille - quality. If I buy anything, it's the un-chromed Blue Point stuff

    Axminister wood screws

Beware ! Almost certainly Chinese-made. So: inaccurate; low-copper brass; Philips recess likely to 'cam-out' at low torque

    US Election November 5th

Let me make this prediction: the next POTUS will either Trump, or Michell Obama – if they can persuade her to overcome her deep reluctance, and accept that it's her DUTY to stand: the only person who can beat Trump

    US Election November 5th

You should listen harder . . . I heard hundreds of them. Starmer's silence was deafening.

    US Election November 5th

Maybe: Media attacks Biden for not dropping out a year earlier. One things has been clear for at least that lonmg: that there is NO chance that either Biden or Trump would still be sufficiently 'compos mentis' to function as President come mid-January 2029

He thinks this is a caravan…

NO. That is part of PLANNING law: "Operational development refers to the carrying out of building, engineering, mining, or other operations in, on, over or under land. In simpler terms, it encompasses any activity that alters the physical or functional characteristics of land or buildings...

New file handles and how to treat?

If you expect your file handles to remain clean, you're not using them for filing . . . If you're actually doing serioius filing, you buy the bare files, and have a stock of ratty wooden handles to use when appropriate.

Gorilla glue doesn't seem very good

Agreed. i tried some Gorilla epoxy, and gave up AND threw it away after a number of tries. The 'Applicator' - a knock-off of Ciba-Geigy's Araldite - had transarent barrels, that were flexible. The two parts had already started to thicken inside, and stuck the plunger. I pushed harder. The...

He thinks this is a caravan…

Not Tax: PLANNING. Sheds are subject to the Town & Country Planning Act 1948. Caravans are ONLY subject to the Caravans Act 1968; they are outwith planning constraints. A caravan is designated as: a structure that is designed for human residence and can be transported by road. My garden is...

    Bench grinder wire wheel

I've largely given up on steel wire brushes – in favour of coarse abrasive nylon filament ones. Slightly more abrasive; wear longer; don't shed filaments. The Wolfcraft ones seem OK; not the cheap Chinese knock-offs from Amazon, Sourcing etc. Still use brass [NOT 'brassed'] wire, though, for...

A simpler method of repairing broken saw nut screws!

M6 ??? I have measured 20 split-nut sawscrew threads from my 'spares' collection. All are around 3.6mm OD [range from 3.4 to 3.9] and are for 90% 24 tpi [1.06 mm pitch], with 10% being 26 tpi [0.98 mm pitch]. Oddly, these are NOT BS Whitworth threads, but much coarser, lying between 1/8"...

    Proposed workshop build

Flemish Garden Wall Bond. Soldier Bond for the door's lintel. With some appliqué "Brick Slips" cut in, to simulate the Soldier Bond falling away.. Cheap and 'Tap-á-L'Oeuil'. I would check there's adequate reinforcement behind the Soldier Bond to support the lintel.
