It is still a fire foor. Do not coat it with Linseed oil. There is loads of information on Google on what can be used.

Lots of stuff came my way yesterday.

helping clear out abandoned sheds at the local allotments I was able to save some stuff. They are all now working. A few cooking stoves. Nice old tape measures. Nice floor board saw.

    Floating staircase steel work

Last one I was involved in. The steel was sourced from a local supplier. Buy 20% more than you need, as mistakes could be made. The wall fixings was dictated by planning regs, we used 2 resin studs every other step. But 3 at top and bottom. The welds had to be done by a coded welder...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Due to time limitations I had a local company make the canopy for me, out of timber I supplied. When we assembled it we hit an issue. Or two. LHS is 32mm out of line. The wall is bent away from the large white timber. The vertical runs are 19mm out of square. Plus about 10 on the twist...

Scientists have recently discovered a new species of pinnipeds. The newly discovered species make noises that sound exactly like “yes yes“. They have been classified as seals of approval.

    Buying small amounts of steel.

Oh that's the source of the bad words I can hear from pointy head land. I get my steel from a local Agri Repair place. Most is in stock, or will be in next day. Plus I get to raid the scrap bins. For the metal Art work I used to do, it was Choccy hob nobs, PG Tips and say hello to my...

I did this a whille ago. But just found the images. One rusty box. More rust and green. Standard UK Fire Hose connector. The bolts are Long lock and the nuts are plain. This came to light when the box was being de-rusted. It could not be saved. Getting the paint on. This is...

    Saved from the scrap yard.

OOOPs. I forgot to show this old vice restored. In bits. It was a simple bit of gentle force. After hard boiling in citric acid and 600 grit grinding paste. Getting some stove black and bee's wax onto the metal. The grease on the threads in pig fat and linseed oil.

    Vintage Vice Saved

This vice was a recent item I acquired. It is a solid cast item. Each bolt and nut are hand made. This means each need a spanner to fit and they can not be mixed up. They will not fit. Lucky, when it was made each item was stamped. To de-rust I stripped it down and placed it in Citric...

    Air Line Hose Bore

3/8 hose. Decent hose clips on the Quick release connections. 3/8 will give you the best of both worlds, between odd use and constant use. You may want to fit your tools with fly leads.
