    1959 BR(W) hammer restored.

Still sorting some old hard drives I found this hammer I was able to restore. It has suffered a lot in its life. As the burrs show. Power tools and coffee had the faces good again. Electrolysis used to remove the rust. I then uysed a hard wood charcoal fire to harden the head...

    Saving a Tilley Lamp.

I got this tidy and complete Tilly Lamp for £5, as the last owner could not get it to work. If you are after a Tilly, get one which is complete. As some spares are getting eye watering. The dust turned out to be some kind of plaster dust. Take the pump out, this tank had the wrong fuel in...

BR phased out steam trains by Aug 1948, by then most oil fired lamps had been replaced by battery lamps. On the trains by DC powered lamps. The way the glass is held...

Got this nice Old Railway Man Lantern. Complete but in need of some TLC. Getting the paint off with paint stripper. This stuff I get from a car body shop. It is a lot better than the stuff in most high street outlets. Rust removal with Vinegar, citric acid powder and flour...

I recently got this lovely tilly table lamp, in need of some TLC. I know theses are good for light and heat. Do not rush in and buy, with out checking a lot of stuff. This one I knew needed new seals, new glass and new mantles. I was willing to take a punt on the vaporizer. As I have...

    From Scrap to toy.

This was made ages ago, but only now have I rediscovered the images. All scrap parts from Fire extinguishers, service box's for hydrants and from parts in my van. The main body was from a drain cleaning company scrap bin. Such good wood in a disposable box, it was a shame to waste it...
