    Cordless brad nailer...which one?

Has anyone compared one against an air nailer? Have the electric ones caught up or is a compressor system still better?

    Router Bits Buying Help

Another vote for Wealdon, they have a some Trend items in their clearance section which might be worth a look. I have got a 1/4” collet as well as a half inch in my table router which gives you a greater range of cutters.

    Hiring furniture repair companies

It depends on how your furniture is made and what you are asking them to do. Is it sprung? Does it need new springs or just new foam? Perhaps it is just cosmetic? In which case you can go a long way yourself with a decent leather care kit. Unfortunately furniture repair can often work out...

    Startrite TA 125

Has anyone got a Startrite with a crosscut table? I am interested in how heavy the folding bit is and if it is practical to fold it down when not in use. Even better, has anyone got one near Gloucester that I could have a look at? I am gently starting to look for one and want to make sure I...

    Table Saws -again!

Interesting that he thinks a sliding table is a disadvantage, perhaps if he used one he would change his mind?

    Finishing for external name signs

There is a thread somewhere (sorry can’t find it) where someone coated several bits of the same material and left them outside for a few years. I think Sikkens was the winner. My neighbour, who knows everything, kindly told me I should have used Sikkens for my external Oak doors just after I...

How much for a decent mountain/road bike.

Suggest you go to a decent bike shop, get one fitted properly, even if you don’t buy from there (bike shops are used to this!). They should also be able to put you on a roller trainer so you can practise falling off in private. If you are going to gown the road bike route think about using...

Plunge Saws and guide rail lengths

Peter Millard has done quite a lot about track and tracksaw comparison on his YouTube site. All the saws from the main brands do the job, and I don’t think I have seen a comment to say that any are particularly awful. I personally have a Festool, can’t comment on other brands. I have my...

    High Torque Cordless Drill

Sorry, should have said. For putting hinges, holes etc. into field gate posts where it’s too far from the house to run a cable. Thanks

    Adverts

If it ain’t broken don’t fix it :) Suspect that a membership fee would put off a lot of people and as such dilute the wealth of knowledge available. Also, charging a fee adds another level of admin headache and what do you do about the profit or loss? We could always move to Facebook (not!)

    Building quote

We are getting quotes for a garden room which will be sandwiched between the garage and the house. We have got two quotes but one is literally twice the amount of the other! Can someone point me in the direction of a decent calculator so that I can get a ballpark figure?

    Naming challenge

If the field is secure and you can have sole use then there could be lots of customers. A friend had a terrier that you couldn’t let off the lead otherwise it would just disappear, a secure area would have been ideal.

    Dog tennis ball thrower

A few years ago I saw a video clip where someone had made a tennis ball thrower, but now I can’t find it! The thing was attached to a fence, the dog was trained to drop the ball in the top then jump on a paddle/lever which propelled the ball out again. Hours of endless fun while human watches...
