CNC'd MFT top, Parf guide or Trend jig?

Depends how accurate you want them and how much you trust yourself not to make a mistake. The tops last several years if you look after them.

Makita rail joiners in festool track

Can anyone confirm if the Makita rail joiners work in Festooltrack? I am assuming so as the tracks are compatible? Thanks

    Betterley connector

I have just seen a reference to the Betterley connector in another thread to accurately join two rails. Anyone else use these? What other alternatives are there? Thanks

MFT and large or small cuts

For larger pieces a rail square and some parallel guides (even if the are home made) works well for me as it reduces the handling of the board as I struggle with large pieces. If you are careful you can get away with moving the rail for cuts longer than the rail, but it’s easier with a longer...

    Extraction Rate Maths (I'm Confused)

I think you might be over thinking this - if you use a vacuum on your thicknesser you will very quickly fill the bag, and possibly clog the thinner hose with the coarser shavings. Possible the size of the shaving that is relevant (dust compared to coarse shavings)

    Sand between coats of Osmo?

Less is definitely more with Osmo! Apply very thinly, I tend to use a rag then wipe off any excess with an abrasive pad. If it doesn’t feel silky smooth when it’s dry you just need to very lightly wipe a piece if fine sand paper over it. (I use the foam backed finishing pads) It is literally...

    Combination or separates

Separates if you have got the space. If you have to go combi have a look at how much of one tool you have to move use another. I think that the real pain would be setting your spindle, changing to the saw only to find you need to run another piece through the spindle but have lost the setting...

    Fence covering

Not specifically what you asked, but painting it a dark green would make it less offensive if your neighbours are ok with this. Then perhaps some honey suckle and clemetis.

    Spindle moulder mitre slots

Some of the older spindle moulders have mitre slots running at 90 degrees to the fence. Does anyone know what they were designed for? I am just curious 🙂

    Thank you Peter :)

Yes, that was the bit I hadn’t spotted, standard dhl was 11 euros, but this isn’t standard.

    Thank you Peter :)

Perhaps I am seeing things, www.sautershop.com Youtool guide rail, under sawing, guide rails, universal

    Thank you Peter :)

I have just seen Peter Millard’s video with reference to Sautershop. They have a 3m guide rail compatible with Festool for less than £100 - looks too good to be true. Can someone do a sanity check for me before I buy one to make sure I am looking at the right thing? Thanks

    Refinishing chairs

Paramorse and wire wool? It contains what Nitromorse paint stripper did years ago when it used to work! It won’t be too bad a job if you set up a mini production line. Stick some Paramose on one let it soak, work on the next and return to the first after the Paramose has done its job. If the...

    Floating shelf brackets

Can you remember what make they were? thanks

    Floating shelf brackets

Sorry stupid question for the day! I want to put a mantle shelf up with hidden brackets - the sort with long rods that go into your shelf. Once they are on what, if anything, stops the shelf from being pulled forward again? I have got visions of someone grabbing hold of it and the whole lot...

    Hen House Timber Choice

re roofing felt - the mites hide between the felt and whatever is supporting it making it impossible to spray. Thanks for all the suggestions- hadn’t considered ply which seems a logical way to go.

    Hen House Timber Choice

As per the title what timber would you choose? Also, what roofing material? I have been fighting mites and the mites are winning as my current house is designed such that you can’t get at all of it for spraying so time for a new build :) Thanks

    Bats

Anyone know anything about Bats? Does anyone have a copy of a mitigation strategy for Pips? We need to replace the roof on the house and I want to know what we would need to do if we had them. They fly around, but I am not sure if they are using our roof. If you are providing alternative...
