    Pin Chuck

Hi, I am looking for a pin chuck to hold drills of less than 3mm in my pillar drill. Can anyone recommend a decent make? Everything I have found looks cheap and nasty. Are they called something else as I can’t find one in Axminster? Thanks

    Router Coping Sled

Made mine for doing tenons with some bits of ply and a couple of toggle clamps. Loads of examples if you google. I don’t use a mitre track, but finish off by hand if necessary. If you are using a groover make sure that the bearing or arbour sits fractionally behind the fence otherwise you...

Is this forum now really quiet?

I have got a theory that as time goes on more subject matter has already been covered and the less need for new questions, hence less visible traffic (but perhaps more views of old posts). It’s still the first place I turn to when I get stuck!

EasyScribe - has anyone used one?

Piece of small 18mm ply with a hole just big enough to wedge a pencil in vertically, let the lead poke a tiny bit out of the bottom . The whole thing is more stable and easier to use than a compass - you keep the bottom flat on whatever your template material is and the side runs against...

    Fitters Insurance

For those of you that install your products, what type of insurance do you have, what is the typical cost and what does it cover? Does it also cover your products e.g. if someone hurts themselves on something you have supplied? Thanks

    Track saws

With that addition of an MFT style top built into my workbench and some dogs, I use it instead of a table saw. I also personally think they are safer. Joining tracks can be a fiddle if you are looking for absolute accuracy over a long length. Other than that it is probably the most frequently...

    Workshop Electrics

Having just finished our garage, as per the above, lots (and lots more) sockets plus 16amp. Also think about a master power switch so you can switch off and walk out without worrying at the end of the day (with machines on NVR switches where appropriate).

    Best plane for a woman.

I personally find a 5 easier than a 4 as mine feels better balanced, but that might just be me! I think that bench height has more to do with it than the plane itself (oh, and not to mention the concept of getting it sharp, but best not go there!). Where I have really struggled is planes...

Vintage Singer Sewing Machine suitable for Biothane

I have a 1956 Singer 201k and it is just amazing. I was fortunate enough to pick mine up from EBay for all of £40. Mine has its own table; a broad flat table at the same height as the machine bed makes life oodles easier. I would go for an electric one rather than a hand one. You can still...

    Lack of Traffic.

I’m sorry, but that’s a bit pathetic - or just an excuse for a snow day? Your workshop is all of 10,maybe 15 meters away from your house :-) :-) :-)
